She is survived by two daughters, Virginia Hayes, and Joyce and husband Gene Neal, Kokomo; grandchildren, Tony Bennett, Tonya McDuffie, Douglas and Jenny McDuffie, Kokomo, Greg Hedrick, Lafayette, and Angie York, Knoxville, Tenn; four great-grandsons and three great-granddaughters. She was preceded in death by one son, Ron Bennett; one daughter, Connie Gilbert; one granddaughter, Marianne Hayes; six brothers and two sisters; as well as several nieces and nephews. The family will be having a private service. Sunset Memory Garden Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. on July 22, 2009.3

A resident of Huntington County practically all her life, Mrs. Bragg was born December 1, 1891, at Tipton to James and Cora Stephens Van Meter. Here first marriage was to James Uburn Slagel, the second marriage to Fred Carpenter, and the third marriage to Charles Bragg on May 3, 1934. He died September 23, 1962. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Rosa Keefer, Rt. 3 Auburn; five sons, Gary Slagel, Framingham, Mass; James Slagel, Waynedale; Fred Carpenter, Huntington; Irvin Carpenter, Auburn, and Charles Bragg, Roanoke; 20 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and a brother, Howard Van Meter, Markle. Two sons, Paul Frederick Slagel and Dewey Carpenter; a daughter Mrs. Ruth Bradfield, and a sister, Mrs. Sina Noggle, are dead. Friends may call after 7 p.m. today in the Bailey Mortuary where funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Chapel with Rev. Oral W. Clemens officiating. Burial will be in the Mt. He was born Nov. 29, 1897 in Howard County to James and Cora Stevens Van Meter and his marriage was on March 17, 1920 to the former Pearl I. Burket, who survives. Also surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Gene (Evelyn) Knight, Midland, Texas, Mrs. Lavern (Erma) Loder, Jonesboro and Mrs. Ovid (Esther) Lahr, Warren, 15 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and a halfbrother, Chester Van Meter, St. Petersburg, Fla. Deceased are two sisters, Mrs. Lula Bragg and Sina Noggle. Friends may call at the Bailey Mortuary after 7 p.m. Monday, were services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday with Rev. Stanley K. Hoover and Rev. Philip Kessler officiating. Burial will be in Lancaster Cemetery. In the obituary of Howard J. Van Meter appearing in Monday's paper, the names of a surviving son, Elmer L. Van Meter, Houston Texas and the name of the deceased son, Eldon Van Meter were unintentionally omitted. on March 26, 1979.5

A 1951 graduate of East Union High School in Wells County, she was a member of the Salamonie Church of the Brethren and worked at the U.S. Dept. of Agriculture for more than 34 years before retiring in 1990. Survivors include three sons, Jerry Lahr of Warren, Don (Melissa) Lahr of Huntington and Rick (Vicki) Lahr of Markle; a daughter, Cindy (John) McKinzie of Huntington; a sister, Evelyn Knight of Austin, Texas; nine grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and four step grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister. Services will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. at the Myers Funeral Home, Huntington Chapel. Calling hours there are Tuesday from 3 to 7 p.m. Burial will be in the Gardens of Memory Cemetery in Huntington County. Preferred memorials are to the American Heart Assoc. or the American Cancer Society.

Services will be held on Tuesday, October 3, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. at the Myers Funeral Home Huntington Chapel, 2901 Guilford Street, Huntington, Indiana with Rev. Bill Keen officiating assisted by George Dorset. Interment will be at the Gardens of Memory Cemetery in Huntington County. He was born in Andrews, Huntington County to the late T. Frank and Sina May (Van Meter) Noggle. He was a 1940 graduate of Marion College (now Indiana Wesleyan University). He married H. Marie Rowe on June 2, 1941. She preceded him in death on Dec. 26, 2003. Howard was a member of the IWU Community for more than 70 years, serving in various leadership capacities. He was "Mr. Marion College" to multiple generations. He ended his career as Assistant to the President of Indiana Wesleyan University. He was a member of the Christian Businessmen's Association and College Wesleyan Church. In addition to his love for Indiana Wesleyan University he lived his life committed to Jesus Christ. He expressed this dedication through service to students, faculty and staff, church leaders, friends and family. His warm smile and genuine care for others caused young and old to love and trust Howard Noggle. He leaves a legacy of changed lives and great hope. He will be greatly missed. Survivors include a daughter, Carol N. (Deane) Dayton, Huntsville, Ala; grandson, Chris Dayton, Huntsville, Ala; and special family friends, Rod, Juli and John Harmon, Marion. In addition to his wife, Marie Noggle, and his parents, Frank and Sina May Noggle, he was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Esther Marshall; and stepmother, Gertie Noggle. Services are at 1 p.m. Saturday in College Wesleyan Church with Dr. Bud Bence officiating. Burial is in Grant Memorial Park. Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday in Needham-Storey-Wampner, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, and one hour prior to services Saturday in the church. Memorial contributions may be directed to Indiana Wesleyan University, Howard and Marie Noggle Scholarship Fund, 4201 S. Washington St., Marion, IN 46953. A longtime resident of Marion, she was a 1942 graduate of Marion College, now Indiana Wesleyan University. She was employed by Indiana Wesleyan University Bookstore for 41 years and was a person who loved people. She was a member of College Wesleyan Church. Survivors include daughter, Carol N. (Deane) Dayton, Princeton, N.J; and a grandson, Chris Dayton. Services are at 11 a.m. today in Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., with the Rev. Paul Meeks officiating. Burial is in Grant Memorial Park cemetery. Visitation was Monday at the funeral home. Memorials may be sent to the Howard & Maggie Noggle Scholarship Fund, in care of Indiana Wesleyan University. on December 31, 2003.1
