     Dorothy Ann Yearout Dorothy Short, Oct 6, 1948 - Jan 25, 2015. Dorothy Ann Short, 66 of New Castle, went to be with the Lord Sunday, January 25, 2015. She was preceded in death by her parents James and Annabelle Yearout and an infant daughter Angela Short. She is survived by loving husband of 47 years Walter Short; son and daughter-in-law Chris and Renay Short; grandchildren Alexis and Melissa Short; brothers and sister-in-laws Gary and Sue Yearout, Kenneth and Kathy Yearout, Ronald and Brenda Yearout; brother Richard Yearout and special friend Anna Balog; sister and brother-in-law Carolyn and Roger Horsley; numerous nieces and nephews, and special friends Sharon and Harvey Songer. A special thanks to her caregiver Sherry Huffman.      Walter Jerry Short Walter J. Short, Oct 6, 1948 - Feb 14, 2018. Walter J. Short, 69, of Catawba, Va., loving husband of the late Dorothy (Yearout) Short for 47 years, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, February 14, 2018 at his home following a brave battle with cancer. He was born October 6, 1948 to Willy (Bill) and Grace Short. Walter was proud to have served his country as a Vietnam medic and his community as a life-long member of the Upper Craig Creek fire department. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Grace Short; brothers, Tom Short and Bill Short Jr. Walter will be lovingly remembered by his devoted partner, Sherry Kerns; son and daughter-in-law, Christopher and Elizabeth Renay Short; granddaughters Alexis and Melissa Short; brother and sister-in-law, Clarence and Linda Short; life-long friends Harvey and Sharon Songer; along with numerous in-laws, nieces, nephews and pets. Special gratitude to Sherry Kerns for all the tender loving care and commitment given to Walter and the family throughout the years. Gratefulness to the Craig county emergency services for their care & consideration. Appreciation to the various medical professionals of the VA Medical Center.      Martha Ann "Marti" Gibson was buried at Southwest Virginia Veterans Cemetery, Dublin, Pulaski Co., Virginia.^3,5,6 She was born on November 4, 1942 at Radford, Virginia.^2,3,4,6 As of May 1, 1965,her married name was Carr.² She married Ronald Lee "Ronnie" Carr, son of Philip Burton Carr and Ilene Whitenack, on May 1, 1965 at Norfolk, Virginia.^1,2,3 Martha Ann "Marti" Gibson died on April 15, 2017 at Dublin, Pulaski Co., Virginia, at age 74.^3,6 She November 4, 1942 - April 15, 2017. Martha Gibson (Marti) Carr, 74, passed away Saturday, April 15, 2017 at her home in Dublin. She was a member of Grace Episcopal Church. Marti worked many years as a medical records transcriber. She also worked as a credit card administrator and administrative assistant for Hercules/Radford Army Ammunition Plant and Alliant Tech, retiring with 28 years of service. Marti was an accomplished artist and loved all kinds of craft work. She was an avid scrapbooker and spent countless hours socializing and scrapbooking with many beloved friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, James G. Gibson Sr. and Geneva Nelson Gibson; brothers, James L. Gibson Jr. and Jerry D. Gibson; and brother-in-law, Philip B. Carr Jr. Those left to cherish her memory are her husband of 52 years, Ronald "Ron" L. Carr of Dublin; daughter and son-in-law, Kimberly and Wesley Vest of Newbern; son and daughter-in-law, Anthony T. "Terry" and Sonia Carr of Salem; grandchildren, Tya and Breeana Carr of Salem, and Aaron, Tommy and Erika Vest of Newbern; brother and sister-in-law, Larry D. and Cynthia Gibson of Roanoke; sister and brother-in-law, Louise Yvonne "Vonnie" and Thomas Gaines of Charleston, S.C; special sister-in-law, Reba Akers of Elliston; numerous nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and friends. Graveside services will be held at the Southwest Virginia Veterans Cemetery in Dublin. on April 16, 2017.³
