Jo was born on Aug. 10, 1938 in Princeton, WV and grew up on Claytor Lake in Dublin, VA. He was a 1956 graduate of Dublin High School, and after serving in the Air Force, where he was stationed at Chennault, he was employed by the Olin Corporation in Lake Charles. He retired from Olin as a maintenance supervisor in 1994. Jo was deeply committed to his community and was involved in many service organizations. He was active in Calcasieu 4-H and FFA and mentored several livestock exhibitors. He volunteered many hours to the parish livestock shows, and was named Honorary Sale Chairman in 2007. He was involved in the LSU AgCenter Master Gardener program and served as co-chairman for their Garden Festival since 2004. Jo served as president of the Iowa Lion's Club, Iowa AARP, and Iowa Housing Authority. He served on the Board of Directors for the Calcasieu Council on Aging for 6 years. He volunteered at LeBleu Settlement Elementary, Iowa High School, and Bell City High School. He was a fan of McNeese and Iowa football and was a member of the Cowboy Club. Jo is preceded in death by his parents, Bennett and Phyllis Thompson and brother Bill Thompson. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Elaine Savoy Thompson; his three children and their spouses, Teresa and Maurice Marceaux of LeBleu Settlement, Jodi and Dana Rushing of Denham Springs, and Bill and Paula Thompson of Iowa; six grandchildren, Bennett and Brant Marceaux, Sammie and Victor Rushing, and Annabelle and Mia Thompson and one great-grandson, Kale Reese Marceaux. Pallbearers will be Jo's grandsons, Bennett and Brant Marceaux and Victor Rushing, and Mike Fournet, Troy LeFleur, and Gerald Doucet. Honorary pallbearers are Craig Thompson, Larry Smith, and Kale Marceaux. Burial will be in Consolata Cemetery. in August, 2011.2 He died on August 7, 2011 at Montgomery Co., Virginia, at age 72.2,5

Rice, a Belle native and assistant football coach at the University of Maryland, died Tuesday in Man Appalachian Regional Hospital. He became ill last week while on a recruiting trip. Hospital spokesmen said Rice, 35, was hospitalized for a slight heart attack suffered while viewing game films at Man High School Tuesday of last week. He was to have been released yesterday. He died of another but more massive coronary. Service will be Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at Fidler and Frame Funeral Home in Belle with the Rev. Denver Blevins and the Rev. William Lions officiating. Burial will be in Montgomery Memorial Park in London. Friends may call at the funeral home. Rice graduated from West Virginia 1959, where he was a member of the football team. He later earned his master's degree in math from the University of Virginia. In 1959, Rice became the football coach at Harper's Ferry High School where a year later, his team had an undefeated season. From 1961 to 1965, he was football coach at Warren High School, Vincent. Ohio, and from; 1966 through 1970, coached at Handley High in Winchester, Va. His teams were undefeated in 1967 and 1970. He was the only person to twice win the Winchester Evening Star "Coach of the Year" award and also had been named outstanding young educator in Winchester in 1969 and 1970. He was a member of the Christian Community Presbyterian Church at Bowie, Md., where he resided.      Richard Arley "Dick" Hart was buried at Montgomery Memorial Park, Route 60, London, Kanawha Co., West Virginia.4 He was born on October 3, 1941 at Ripley, Jackson Co., West Virginia.4 He married Nancy Kay Rice, daughter of Edwin Merlin "Tippy" Rice and Ella Ruth Powell, on June 15, 1963 at Belle, Kanawha Co., West Virginia.1,2,3,4 Richard Arley "Dick" Hart died on June 23, 2018 at Wake Co., North Carolina, at age 76.4 He Richard Arley Hart, 76, of Holly Springs, NC, died June 23, 2018. Dick was born October 3, 1941, in Ripley, WV, the son of Dutch and Veta Hart. He is survived by his devoted wife of 55 years, Nancy Rice Hart; sons, Bradley (Catherine) Hart of Birmingham, AL, and Andrew (Candace) Hart of Springfield, VA; and grandchildren, Emily and Joshua Hart of Birmingham, and Ryan and Kyle Hart of Springfield. He is also survived by his brothers, Ronald (Lois) Hart of Washington, PA, and David (Wanda) Hart of Washington, PA; sister, Nancy (Marvin) Rexroad of Lexington, KY; and a host of nieces and nephews. Dick was a 1958 graduate of Stonewall Jackson High School in Charleston and a 1962 graduate of the West Virginia Institute of Technology, where he played basketball and baseball. He remained a lifelong devoted alumnus of West Virginia Tech and maintained a lifelong involvement in athletics. He also maintained an uncanny knack for establishing a connection with anyone he met from West Virginia. Dick served as an auditor and human resources trainer with the U.S. General Accounting Office in Washington, DC, for 35 years, retiring to Holly Springs in 1997. In retirement, he taught resume writing at Wake Technical Community College and as a volunteer for church and civic groups; he helped write thousands of resumes that in turn helped many to secure jobs. Dick was an active member of Kirk of Kildaire Presbyterian Church in Cary, NC, heading an usher team and working with the Building and Grounds Committee, Kirk Classics, and the men's fellowship group. A graveside service will be held at Montgomery Memorial Park in London, WV, at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 28. The family extends its warm thanks and appreciation to the skilled medical team at the Wake Med Cary Intensive Care Unit. on June 27, 2018.4

     Melba Jo Hawkins was buried at Prospect Hill Cemetery, 200 West Prospect Street, Front Royal, Warren Co., Virginia.2 Her Social Security Number was 233-58-9950.4 She was born on September 22, 1937 at Cabot Station, Calhoun Co., West Virginia.2,4,3 As of June 18, 1960,her married name was Rice.1 She married Ronald Kenneth "Ron" Rice, son of Edwin Merlin "Tippy" Rice and Ella Ruth Powell, on June 18, 1960 at Parkersburg, Wood Co., West Virginia.1,5,3 Melba Jo Hawkins died on May 10, 2008 at Winchester, Virginia, at age 70.2,4,6,3 She Melba Jo Hawkins Rice Trenary, 70, of Front Royal, Va., died Saturday, May 10, 2008, in Winchester Medical Center, Winchester, Va. Mrs. Trenary was born Sept. 22, 1937, in Cabot Station, the daughter of J.H. and Margaret Hawkins. She was a 1959 graduate of West Virginia University. She later taught home economics and science in Shepherdstown and Winchester. She served on the Warren County School Board in the late 1980s. Mrs. Trenary's first husband, Ronald K. Rice, a native of Belle, died in 1972. She married William C. Trenary in 1976 and they raised beef cattle on the family farm outside Front Royal. She was an active member of First Presbyterian Church of Winchester and a volunteer for Faith in Action. She was also an active member of Chapter AX, PEO Sisterhood. She was active in the Garden Club of Warren County and served as a director of the Garden Club of Virginia. Surviving are her husband; two sisters, Sylvia Ramey of Oklahoma City, Okla., and Merna Busch of Tampa, Fla; a son, David Rice, and his children, Benjamin and Katharine, of Raleigh, N.C; a stepdaughter, Alice T. (Doug) Denham and daughters, Caitlyn and Briana of San Antonio, Texas; and stepdaughter, Julianne (Horace Ho) Trenary and children, Rebecca and Garrison Ho, of Austin, Texas. Burial was conducted following a private ceremony this week in Montgomery Memorial Park. (She is actually buried in Prospect Hill Cemetery in Front Royal, VA) on July 1, 2008.3
