"Donnie" was employed as a meat cutter with Wades Supermarkets in Pearisburg and Dublin, was a graduate of Giles High School Class of 1973, was a lifetime member of the Eggleston Volunteer Fire Department with over 40 years service, and was a devoted member of the Eggleston United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents and his son Robert Lee Wimmer. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 36 years, Donna Covill Wimmer; his son Shaun C. Wimmer of Dublin; his daughter-in-law, Laura Wimmer, of Blacksburg; his brother and sister-in-law, Claude and Carol Wimmer, of Newport; his sister and brother-in-law, Dianne and Bob Burkett, of Woodbridge; his grandchildren, Rebecca Harmon, Emily Wimmer, Kennedy Wimmer, and Caroline Wimmer; his nieces and nephews, Josh and Kelly Wimmer, Lena and Lonnie Atkins, Gary Burkett, William and Jeannie Wimmer, his brother-in-law Jerry Covill, and his sister-in-law Carol Sutphin both of Rural Retreat; and his good friends Lynn Meadows Conley and her son Daniel. Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 8 p.m. in the Kendall Funeral Home, 605 Snidow St., Pembroke. The family will receive friends for 6 until 8 p.m. before the services. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that contributions be made to the Eggleston Fire Dept., the Eggleston United Methodist Church or the American Cancer Society. The Kendall Funeral Home in Pembroke is in charge of the arrangements. on January 10, 2013.2
