Richardson, died Monday, August 5, 2019 at her residence. A native of Lester, WV, Shirley was a daughter of the late Anthony Campbell and Okie Dove Tosh Polk. She lived in Aiken since 1964 and was a member of South Aiken Baptist Church. She had a career with the U. S. Government working with the Draft Board, Social Security Administration and the Farmers Home Administration. She was also a homemaker. Survivors, in addition to her husband Darrell, include two daughters, Terri McClearen Dickson (Jeffrey), Aiken, Kimberly Richardson Burnett (Dr. Samuel T.), Abbeville, SC; grandchildren, Kelli McClearen Zefting (Dana), Robbie McClearen (Liz), John Thomas Burnett (Mary Stewart), Rachel Burnett McCullough (Steve), Benjamin Joseph Burnett; step granddaughters, Nicole Elise Dickson, Carissa Ann Dickson; great grandchildren, Wyatt McClearen, Audrey McClearen, Zoey Kate Zefting, Madison Drew Zefting, Braelyn Marie Dickson, Elizabeth Stewart Burnett, Thomas Reid Burnett; sister, Irene Lambert, Lynchburg, VA; special family friend, Leola Plameras. In addition to her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by her brothers, Rudolph Polk, Russell Polk; sister, Hazel Bolen, great-granddaughter, Anna Claire Burnett and niece, Julia Ann Bolen. The family will receive friends Friday evening, August 9th from 6 until 8 o'clock at Shellhouse - Rivers Funeral Home. The funeral will be Saturday morning, August 10th at 11 o'clock at Shellhouse - Rivers Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens. on August 7, 2019.³

He was the loving and devoted husband of Irene Polk Lambert for 55 years. Born February 11, 1937 in Oakvale, Mercer County, West Virginia, he was a son of the late Berna and Dora Belcher Lambert. He was retired from Kroger and attended Lynchburg First Church of the Nazarene. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son Rich Lambert and wife, Jessica; three grandchildren, Ella, Ava, and Jack; a sister, Virginia “Ginney” Lambert; and a sister-in-law, Shirley (Darryl) Richardson. A funeral service will be conducted 11:00 a.m., Thursday, September 7, 2017 in the chapel of Heritage Funeral Service by Pastor Stephen Willis with burial to follow in Fort Hill Memorial Park. on September 5, 2017.⁴

H. G. Shrewsbury Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. Polk was dead on arrival at a local hospital Sunday at 1:30 p.m. after apparently being electrocuted while at work. The Raleigh County coroner's report was not available at presstime. He had been employed by Slab Fork Coal Co. for 18 years and for the past seven years was a foreman. Polk was a member of the Slab Fork Mine Rescue Squad. Born Nov, 14, 1937 in Sophia, he was a son of Mrs. Margarette Lilly Polk, Sophia, and the late Daniel Polk. Additional survivors include his wife, Sharon Dombrowski Polk; two sons, Douglas Jr. and David, both at home; a daughter, Kathy, at home, and his maternal grandmother, Mrs. Lula Lilly, Sophia. Friends may call at the funeral home from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. Tuesday. Pallbearers will be Jerry Wood, Tom Gillespie, Larry Smith, Fred Brown, Adrain McKenney and Howard Akers. on July 29, 1974.⁴
