He was a member of the Julian United Methodist Church, the Julian Lions Club with 50 years of service, and a Gideon. He was a great lover of Tennessee Walking horses and an avid gardener. He was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Lib Brower. Survivors: wife, Dorothy "Dot" Craven Blackard, of the home, daughters, Cathy B. Easter and husband, Mike, of Julian, Beth B. Hemphill of Julian, sisters, Linda B. Holt and husband, Leon, of Greensboro, Nancy B. Plyler and husband, Dave, of Kernersville, five grandchildren, one great grandchild. on June 4, 2011.5

     Abram Pressley "A.P." Brower was buried at Bethany United Methodist Church Cemetery #2, 6151 Bethany Way, Liberty, Randolph Co., North Carolina.3 He Abram Pressley "A.P." Brower, 86, died Thursday, November 6, 2014 at the Randolph Hospice House. A.P. was born October 1, 1928 in Randolph County to Harvey Preston Brower and Lousina Lineberry Brower. He was raised on their dairy farm and attended Liberty School. He graduated from N.C. State in 1949 with a B.S. in general engineering. He returned to Randolph County and married Mary Elizabeth Blackard in 1951. He began a 30-year teaching career in 1956 and taught math and coached basketball and football at Liberty and Eastern Randolph High Schools. A.P. earned a master's degree in mathematics at UNC-Chapel Hill during summers away from teaching. His life was enriched by his students, players and fellow faculty members. A.P. was dedicated to his wife and children. After the loss of Mary Elizabeth in 1990, A.P. re-married to Bobbie Jean Johnson. A.P. enjoyed working with his hands and had many skills. He was a superb carpenter, avid rabbit hunter, and meticulous artist. In retirement he enjoyed many projects and tending his farm. One of the most fascinating was his last project, called "the do nothing machine". A memorial service was held on Sunday, November 9 at 3:00 p.m. at The Loflin Funeral Home Chapel, officiated by David Hobson. The family received friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home and other times at Phil's home. Along with his parents and wife, Mary Elizabeth, he was also preceded in death by his newborn son, Mark Brower. A.P. was remembered by all who knew him and missed sorely by his family. A.P. was survived by his wife. Bobbie Johnson Brower; daughter, Lisa Davis (Andy) of Conway, SC; sons, Phil Brower (Jean) and Pressley Brower (Lisa) of Staley; step-son, Stephen K. Routh (Rhonda); nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.2 He was born on October 1, 1928 at Randolph Co., North Carolina.4,2 He married Mary Elizabeth "Lib" Blackard, daughter of Alton Clyde Blackard Sr. and Annie Pearl Melvin, on June 24, 1950 at Julian, Guilford Co., North Carolina.1,5,2 Abram Pressley "A.P." Brower died on November 6, 2014 at Asheboro, Randolph Co., North Carolina, at age 86.2,4
