Harry was born on July 7, 1955, in Roanoke, Va. He graduated from Patrick Henry High School. After a short stint in the Navy, he pursued a degree in Nursing from Virginia Western Community College. He spent his life devoted to caring for others in the critical care setting, mentoring new nurses and residents, and making lifelong friends along the way. Harry never met a stranger and truly cared for people in general. on December 20, 2021.5

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, December 14, from the Chapel of Hall-Wynne Funeral Service with the Reverend W.E. Ferrell presiding. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park. She worked in the Roanoke County Commissioner of Revenue office for 32 years and did volunteer work with the American Red Cross. Her battle with Alzheimer has now ended and she can now sing with the choir of angels. She is survived by her daughter, Doris Gearhart Smith-Duncan and husband, W. Daniel Duncan; two sisters, Fleeta Jane Pendleton and husband, James of Salem, Phyllis Higgs Chapman of Raleigh, N.C; and brother, Benton F. Higgs, Sr. and wife, Ginny of Salem. She will be missed by numerous nieces and nephews. Interment in Sherwood. on July 6, 2004.1

A native of Montgomery County, Va., he was the husband of Mrs. Judy Sutphin Meredith, who survives, and the son of Molly Woods Meredith Mericle, who survives, and the late Henry Harmon Meredith. Mr. Meredith was employed with Alamance Community College since 1988. Most recently, he was acting department head for Public Service. Meredith coordinated the forensic and criminal justice labs at the college and also taught Huskin Bill Criminal Justice courses at Western Alamance High School. He was active in the Community College Foundation in coordinating fund raising and efforts for student scholarships and was an active Criminal Justice Club advisor. He also sponsored several criminal justice students for the College' s Ambassador program. His friendship and spirit of recognizing personal worth will be greatly missed by his students, colleagues, and friends at Alamance Community College. His warmth shaped minds and spirits. He was a member of Brookwood Baptist Church and received his B.S. degree from Radford University and his Master' s degree from North Carolina A&T. He also coached baseball, basketball and soccer. Survivors other than his wife of the home include a son, Michael Seth Meredith of the home; a daughter, Miss Michaela Dee Meredith of the home; his mother and stepfather, Mrs. Molly Woods Meredith Mericle and David Mericle, both of Virginia Beach, Va; and a sister, Ms. Deborah Meredith of Virginia Beach. Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery. on February 5, 2002.6
