     Harry Hampton Gearheart Jr. was born on July 7, 1955 at Roanoke, Virginia.^2,3,4,5 He married Sharon Ruth Shell on September 28, 1973 at Roanoke Co., Virginia.² Harry Hampton Gearheart Jr. and Sharon Ruth Shell were divorced on August 6, 1979 at Roanoke, Virginia.⁴ Harry Hampton Gearheart Jr. married Kimberly Kay Anderson on March 23, 1991 at Danville, Virginia.² Harry Hampton Gearheart Jr. died on December 17, 2021 at Madison Heights, Amherst Co., Virginia, at age 66.⁵ He Harry H. Gearheart Jr., 66, of Madison Heights, died peacefully in his sleep on December 17, 2021. Harry was predeceased by his parents, Harry Hampton Gearheart Sr. and Alma Hiner Gearheart. Harry was born on July 7, 1955, in Roanoke, Va. He graduated from Patrick Henry High School. After a short stint in the Navy, he pursued a degree in Nursing from Virginia Western Community College. He spent his life devoted to caring for others in the critical care setting, mentoring new nurses and residents, and making lifelong friends along the way. Harry never met a stranger and truly cared for people in general. on December 20, 2021.⁵

She was born June 4, 1915 to the late Leamond and Lolllie Stansbury Canada in Durham, where she lived her entire life. Mrs. Evans was a diligent worker who retired after 34 years of employment at Liggett Myers Tobacco Company. She was a strong Christian woman and faithful member of First Baptist Church in Durham. Surviving Mrs. Evans are her daughter, Sandra Rexrode of Swansboro, N.C; her sister, Faydeen Westmoreland of Salem, Va; her grandchildren: David William Rexrode and wife, Lisa, of Durham and Teresa Rexrode Capps of Cary; and two great-grandchildren: Travis William Rexrode and Robert Frederick Rexrode, both of Durham. Mrs. Evans was preceded in death by her husbands, Howard Neal Gearhart and Edward J. Evans. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, December 14, from the Chapel of Hall-Wynne Funeral Service with the Reverend W.E. Ferrell presiding. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park. Friends may visit in the funeral home before the service from 12:30 to 1:45 p.m. Flowers are acceptable or contributions in Mrs. Evan's name may be made to Freedom House Recovery Center, 104 New Stateside Drive, Chapel Hill, N.C. 27516. on December 12, 2006.¹

She was born September 3, 1920 in Waynesboro, Va., the daughter of Thomas R. and Gertie Johnson Higgs. Her husband, Lester B. Gearhart, preceded her in death. She was a life member of Calvary Baptist Church, in Roanoke, for 76 years. She sang in the Calvary choir for 42 years. She was a member of the BWC, president of the Roanoke County Women's Club, member of the 49ers Plus Club, sang with the Salem Senior Singers and also played in the band at the Salem Senior Center. She worked in the Roanoke County Commissioner of Revenue office for 32 years and did volunteer work with the American Red Cross. Her battle with Alzheimer has now ended and she can now sing with the choir of angels. She is survived by her daughter, Doris Gearhart Smith-Duncan and husband, W. Daniel Duncan; two sisters, Fleeta Jane Pendleton and husband, James of Salem, Phyllis Higgs Chapman of Raleigh, N.C; and brother, Benton F. Higgs, Sr. and wife, Ginny of Salem. She will be missed by numerous nieces and nephews. Interment in Sherwood. on July 6, 2004.¹

Born March 30, 1923, in Columbus, Ohio, a daughter of the late Gibon and Evelyn (Scott) Gearhart, she was a member of Fairview Missionary Baptist Church. She was a graduate of Portsmouth High School in the class of 1942, and operated an upholstery shop for 50 years. She is survived by her husband, George McLaughlin, whom she married on Feb. 23, 1945, at Calvary Baptist Church in Portsmouth; one son and daughter-in-law, Glenn and Donna McLaughlin of Grove City; two granddaughters, Megan (Dan) Plonka of Ann Arbor, Mich., and Miranda McLaughlin of Columbus; nieces and nephew, Sara Renfro of Texas, Cindy Ferguson of Texas, Tim Doyle of Alabama, Beverly Ross of Florida, Christa Higgins of Florida and Susan Gearhart of Kentucky. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Paul McLaughlin on Aug. 1, 1979; and one brother, Peter Gearhart. Burial will be in White Cemetery near Minford. on August 15, 2010.⁴

     Michael Harman Meredith was buried at Magnolia Cemetery, 201 North Oak Avenue, Elon, Alamance Co., North Carolina.^3,2 He was born on October 18, 1952 at Radford, Virginia.^1,3,4,5 He married Judy Elaine Sutphin, daughter of Stanley Cephus "Buck" Sutphin and Dora Dean Wimmer, on August 2, 1975 at Blacksburg, Virginia.^1,2 Michael Harman Meredith died on February 3, 2002 at Burlington, Alamance Co., North Carolina, at age 49.^3,2,4 He Michael Harmon (should be Harman) Meredith, 49, of 401 Westminster Drive, died Sunday, Feb. 3, 2002. A native of Montgomery County, Va., he was the husband of Mrs. Judy Sutphin Meredith, who survives, and the son of Molly Woods Meredith Mericle, who survives, and the late Henry Harmon Meredith. Mr. Meredith was employed with Alamance Community College since 1988. Most recently, he was acting department head for Public Service. Meredith coordinated the forensic and criminal justice labs at the college and also taught Huskin Bill Criminal Justice courses at Western Alamance High School. He was active in the Community College Foundation in coordinating fund raising and efforts for student scholarships and was an active Criminal Justice Club advisor. He also sponsored several criminal justice students for the College' s Ambassador program. His friendship and spirit of recognizing personal worth will be greatly missed by his students, colleagues, and friends at Alamance Community College. His warmth shaped minds and spirits. He was a member of Brookwood Baptist Church and received his B.S. degree from Radford University and his Master' s degree from North Carolina A&T. He also coached baseball, basketball and soccer. Survivors other than his wife of the home include a son, Michael Seth Meredith of the home; a daughter, Miss Michaela Dee Meredith of the home; his mother and stepfather, Mrs. Molly Woods Meredith Mericle and David Mericle, both of Virginia Beach, Va; and a sister, Ms. Deborah Meredith of Virginia Beach. Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery. on February 5, 2002.⁶
