He served many years on the Electoral Board in Floyd and volunteered with RSVP. He loved spending time on the lake fishing with his family. He is survived by his son, Eric Goad; daughter and son-in-law, Angela and Michael Duncan; grandchildren, Bethany Duncan and fiance, Michael Delp and Hunter Duncan; sisters, Norell (Pete) Mason, and Merleen Reese; and numerous nieces and nephews. Interment will be held in the Southwest Virginia Veterans Cemetery at 1 p.m. on Monday, March 4, 2019. on March 1, 2019.3

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday at the Richardson-Horne Funeral Home Chapel, conducted by Dr. Fred Austin, with burial in Sunset Cemetery. Flowers will be appreciated or memorials may be made to the Pilot United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday afternoon at the Richardson-Horne Funeral Home. She had lived her entire life in Kellysville. Beatrice was born September 20, 1925 to the late Elizabeth and N.C. Whitlow, the second of six children. Two daughters were born from the union of Charles Turner and Beatrice. She was a homemaker for most of her adult life, having briefly worked at the Celanese in Pearisburg, VA before her marriage. Our mother loved nothing more than taking care of others, and by doing so became everyone's "Aunt Bea". She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and an infant brother, Billy; her eldest brother, Oakie; and her "granddog" Belle. Family members left to cherish her memory include her two daughters, Elizabeth (Libby) Turner and Wanda Fowler; her favorite son-in-law, Rick Fowler; her sister, Virginia Brown and her husband Bill; brothers, Tony Whitlow and wife Rebecca and Buddy Whitlow and wife Joyce; sister-in-law, Betty Whitlow; and several special nieces and nephews. Burial will follow at the Oakvale Cemetery. on January 1, 2014.3

     Buddy Lee "Bud" Whitlow Buddy L. Whitlow, 85, of Princeton died Friday, October 8, 2021, at Raleigh General Hospital in Beckley. Born in Kegley, WV December 26, 1935, he was the son of the late Noah Curtis and Elizabeth Bailey Whitlow. He was retired from the Acetone Recovery Department of the Celanese Corporation in Narrows, VA, but for many years while working at Celanese and afterward continued as business owner of Whitlow Contracting. Buddy was a 1954 graduate of Oakvale High School and faithfully served his country in the U.S. Army 101st Airborne Division as a paratrooper. He was a member of Lifeline Princeton Church of God. Scripture states, "He who builds the house has more honor than the house." (Heb 3:3) Buddy demonstrated this honor as a man of integrity and a builder. He demonstrated true Christianity by always extending his hand to the poor and doing his part to build the Kingdom of God. He worked many hours to have the funds to support ministries, as well as widows and those in need. As a contractor, he took the dreams of his clients and made them a reality. He built over two hundred homes, churches, and businesses either from the ground up or through renovation. As a husband, together with his wife of 61 years, they built a life they loved, full of family who loved them boundlessly. He was the happiest when he was surrounded by his children and grandchildren. He was the rock of the Whitlow family. In addition to his parents, two brothers, "Little" Billy Whitlow and Oakie Whitlow and two sisters, Beatrice Whitlow Turner and Virginia Mae Whitlow Brown, preceded him in death. Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Joyce Thompson Whitlow of Princeton; two daughters, Cheryl Whitlow Gray and husband Todd of Kellysville; Angie Whitlow Wilson and husband Derek of Princeton; one son, David Mitchell and wife Beverly of Greenbrier County, WV; seven grandchildren, Sean Wilson, Laura Meadows and husband Chad, Alysha Crawford and husband Bobby, Michael Whitley and wife Suzanna, Stephanie Wilson, Todd Gray, Jr. and Stephanie Johnston and husband Steve; eleven great-grandchildren; one brother, Tony Whitlow and wife Betty of Elgood, WV; sister-in-law Betty Whitlow of Peterstown. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Michael “Mick” Whitlow, on June 10, 2000. He is survived by his wife, Betty J. Dent Whitlow, at home; daughter-in-law, Jayne Whitlow, two granddaughters, Amanda and Katy Whitlow all of Parkersburg; two brothers, Tony Whitlow and wife Betty of Elgood, and Bud Whitlow and wife Joyce of Kellysville; two sisters, Beatrice Turner of Kellysville and Virginia Brown and husband Bill of Princeton; two sisters-in-law, Mary Frances Dent of Peterstown and Pasty Clyburn of Rich Creek, Va.
