Lepley, 66, of Oil City, died at 10:08 a.m. on Wednesday, April 5, 2017 at UPMC Hamot Hospital in Erie, following a brief illness. She was born in Oil City to the late Russell and Mary (Armstrong) Kaness on July 15, 1950. She attended Oil City schools. Connie was a member of the Franklin V.F.W. Post 1835, and the P.N.A. and Pulaski Clubs in Oil City. She previously attended the Rouseville United Methodist Church, and was most recently attending St. Stephen Church in Oil City. Connie enjoyed knitting afghans, and was recently learning to cook. She enjoyed traveling and going on bus trips, visiting Las Vegas and New York City with her group of friends. She loved going to casinos, and especially playing Bingo as often as she could. In her earlier years, she worked in housekeeping for Cross Creek Resort near Titusville, was a waitress at the Oil City Eagles Club, and worked in the concession stand at Tri-City Speedway. Connie was well known among her friends for her love of Lifesavers candy, and always had a pocket or two full of them, and a bag to share on her travels. She was married in Rouseville on November 25, 1968 to Jack W. Lepley, and he preceded her in death on January 7, 2011. Connie is survived by a brother, Russell Kaness, Jr. and his wife Judy of Ten Sleep, Wyoming; a sister, Mary Craig of Oil City; several nieces and nephews; and her close friends: Shirley Larry, Bonnie Ellis, and Jan Wagner, all of Oil City, and Tom Shawgo, of Franklin. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jack; her son, David W. Lepley, who died on March 30, 2012; a brother, Robert Kaness; and a sister, Francis Kaness. Friends will be received Saturday (April 8th) from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. in the Hile-Best Funeral Home, 2781 Rte. 257 in Seneca, Cranberry Township, where a funeral service will follow Saturday at 1 p.m., with the Rev. Dr. Frederick Monk, pastor of Calvary United Methodist Church in Oil City, officiating. Private interment will be in Heckathorn Cemetery in Seneca.1 She was born on July 15, 1950 at Oil City, Venango Co., Pennsylvania.1 As of November 25, 1968,her married name was Lepley.1 She married Jack W. Lepley, 64, of North Street, Oil City, died unexpectedly at 5:23 a.m. Friday, Jan. 7, 2011, shortly after his arrival at the emergency room at UPMC Northwest in Seneca. Born May 1, 1946, in Oil City, he was the son of the late William C. and Nellie E. Bittenbender Lepley. Jack attended Oil City schools. He was a member of the Pulaski Club, the PNA, Oil City VFW and the Moose and Eagles clubs, all of Oil City. Mr. Lepley attended Calvary United Methodist Church in Oil City. Jack enjoyed playing bingo, card games, especially Texas Hold'Em, and frequenting the area casinos. He was employed for many years at Davis McNair Lumber Company, and he most recently worked as a doorman for the Eagles Club. He was married Nov. 25, 1968, in Rouseville, to the former Connie R. Kaness, who survives. Also surviving is a son, David W. Lepley of Oil City; two stepdaughters, Candy Baker and Cindy Myers, both of Franklin; and a sister-inlaw, Mary Craig of Ohio. He was preceded in death by his parents. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday in the Hile-Best Funeral Home Inc., 2781 Route 257 in Seneca, Cranberry Township. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the funeral home with the Rev. Bruce Davis, pastor of Calvary United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment will be in Heckathorn Cemetery, Cranberry Township, Venango County.2 He was born on May 1, 1946 at Oil City, Venango Co., Pennsylvania.2,4 He married Connie R. He was a very social and outgoing person and enjoyed being a member of the Pulaski Club, P.N.A., Franklin Moose, Oil City Eagles, and the VFW. David enjoyed the company of the many friends he made while being active with these organizations. Mr. Lepley was a Protestant. David enjoyed mowing grass and working outdoors, as well as playing bingo, bowling and participating in pool leagues. He also had a great affection for his pet dachshund dogs. David is survived by his mother, Connie Lepley of Oil City; two stepsisters, Candy Baker and her husband Joe of Franklin and Cindy Myers and her companion Chris McCool of Reno; two aunts, Linda White of Emlenton and Mary Craig of Youngstown, Ohio; an uncle, Russ Kaness and his wife Judy of Wyoming; and numerous cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Jack W. Lepley, who died Jan. 7, 2011; his paternal grandparents, Bill and Nellie Lepley; his maternal grandparents, Russ and Mary Kaness; and an uncle, Walter White. Interment will follow in Heckathorn Cemetery, Cranberry Township, Venango County. on April 2, 2012.3
