He received many accommodations from General MacArthur. Don was a member of the American Legion, and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #7854, Floyd, Va. Donald grew up in Christiansburg, Virginia where he played high school football. He believed in living life to the fullest and he loved life. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jessie B. and Nellie Walters; his sisters, Kathleen Collins, Dorothy Harris, Mary Lee Hedas, Betty Woolwine, and Barbara Walters. Survivors include his wife, Phyllis Jane Walters; children, Tony and Becky Walters, Don and Traci Walters, Jr., John and Pat Walters, William L. and Lori Walters, David Walters, Lisa and Doug Connelly, Heather and Joe King; grandchildren, Kelsey, Tara, Joci, Jace, Tiffany, Nicole, Chad, Danielle, Cara, Bridgette, Kristopher, Tyler, Trevor, Caitlin; brothers and sisters-in-law, Dan and Helen Walters, Dale and Pauleda Walters, Lonnie and Joyce Walters; brothers-in-law, Curtis Howell, Sr. and wife, Teresa, Amos Puckett; former wife, Joan Walters; and several nieces and nephews. Interment will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens with Military Graveside Rites by VFW Post #7854. on June 8, 2006.2

The widow of Robert Arlington Webb (of Princeton, NJ) and John Clark Williams (of Raleigh), she was predeceased by her parents, a sister, Mary Mickey, a brother, George Lee, Jr., and three sisters-in-law, Helen Terwillinger Kelley, Ann Fuqua Kelley and Josephine Blakely Kelley. She is survived by her two daughters, Victoria Webb of South Bend, IN, Gina Webb of Atlanta, GA; and her son, Robert Howard Webb of Raleigh, NC. Also surviving are her sister, Martha Fare, Belews Creek, NC; and four brothers, Rush of Colorado Springs, CO, Michael of St. Louis, MO, William and wife, Sylvia of Roanoke, VA, Richard and wife, Anne of Rural Hall, NC; and two sisters-in-law, Dulcie (Carl) Williamson of Raleigh, NC, and Edith (George) Kelley of Cary, NC; and a number of nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held at the Jacksonville Cemetery in Floyd, Virginia, on December 1 at 12 noon. One sister, Margaret Wieland, preceded her in death. Gladys was a 60-year member of Princeville United Methodist Church, where she was a Sunday school teacher for many years. She also was active in the Women's Ministry, with missions being close to her heart, as she was a selfless person who not only dearly loved her family, but reached out to others in the world. She was well-known throughout the community as the Avon Lady as she sold Avon for almost 30 years. She also worked as a janitor at Princeville State Bank for many years. A special thank you to the nurses and CNAs on the Glasford and Hanna City wings of Bel-Wood Nursing Home for your tender care of Gladys while she was a resident there. Your loving care was greatly appreciated. Funeral services for Gladys will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 4, 2010, at Princeville United Methodist Church. The Rev. Rex Hendrix will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services at the church. Burial will be in Princeville Cemetery.
