He was a retired garage operator and at the time of his death he was self-employed as a salesman. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Bluefield and the Moose and Odd Fellows Lodges. Five brothers and one sister preceded him in death. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Mattie Elizabeth Mitchell Gray; one sister, Mrs. Nellie Richardson of Richmond, Va; one brother, Ben F. Gray of Charleston; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 12:30 p.m. Thursday at Cravens-Shires Funeral Chapel in Bluewell with Rev. Bynum Orr and Rev. Fred Hill officiating. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park Cemetery at Bluewell. Pallbearers will be Jackie Dean Rhea, Duane Prater, Gary W. Belcher, Robert M. Wyatt, David E. Olinger, Raymond Gray and Clifford Allen. on September 14, 1977.⁵
