Manfred Cannaday of Callaway, I. Newton Cannaday, Portsmouth; one sister, Mary C. Prillaman, Callaway; several nieces and nephews. Mary was preceded in death by her husband, William A. Prillaman in 1991. Surviving are her daughters and sons-in-law, Mary Alice and Paul Brown, Margaret and Perry Brown, all of Glade Hill; grandchildren, W. C. Brown, Roger Brown, Pamela Brown Hodges, William Daniel Brown; great-grandchildren, Brandon, Michael, Blake and Sara Brown, Casey Marie Hodges; one brother, R. Manfred Cannaday; a special friend and caregiver, Lisa Whitlock; special friends, Ruth Jones, Carol Cannaday, Geri Sigmon, Velma Beckner; sisters-in-law, Ann Cannaday and Mary D. Prillaman ; and several nephews and one niece. Funeral services will be conducted from Flora Funeral Chapel, 11 a.m. Monday, with the Rev. John H. Heck officiating. Russell was born June 27, 1934. He was a member of Piedmont Presbyterian Church and was a kind hearted Christian who was loved by all that knew him. Russell was a successful businessman who enjoyed classic cars, bluegrass music and was a great mandolin player. Preceding Russell in death were his parents, Manfred and Bettie Cannaday; and a son, Leon Cannaday. Surviving to cherish his memory are his wife of 51 years, Nelda Cannaday; daughter and son-in-law, Debra and Gene Didlake; their daughter, Amber Didlake; son and daughter-in-law, Dean and Donna Cannaday; granddaughter, Kelly England and her husband, Jason; great-grandchildren, Kaylin Walston and Dylan England; brother and sister-in-law, Daniel and Carol Cannaday; nephews, David Cannaday and Lyn Cannaday; niece, Anita Scott; many relatives and loving friends. Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday, March 16, 2008, from Redeeming Life Pentecostal Holiness Church, Rocky Mount with the Rev. Leonard Martin, the Rev. Harold Moyer and the Rev. David Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Mountain View Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Boones Mill Volunteer Fire Department, P.O.
