Lena Kay DeWeese Lena Kay Deweese Stone passed peacefully into the arms of our Lord on Tuesday, February 10th, 2026. Born May 23rd, 1940 to Daniel French and Cherry Fletcher Deweese and one of 10 children was raised in Narrows, VA. Siblings were, sisters; Ida, Cora, Mary, Barbara and Margaret and brothers; Daniel, Marvin, Everett and Charles. Kay graduated from Narrows High School in 1958 and married the love of her life, Charles Allen Stone in August, 1959. The following year, a daughter Barbara Ellen was born. They moved back to Allen's childhood home along the Short Hill Mountain, north of Hillsboro, VA and in 1964, another daughter, Kathryn Amanda was born. They stayed there in a home built by the family the rest of their lives. When Kay was 45, she accepted a job with the Dept. of Interior, Geological Survey in Reston, VA, where she retired after 20 years of service. Kay had many talents, so many people benefited from. She was an excellent seamstress. She made many dresses for her children and bicentennial dresses for her daughters, herself and her friend/family member Judy Virts so they could ride a float in the Lovettsville Bicentennial parade. Kay tended a huge vegetable garden, which we all benefited from, by participating in the care, harvest and canning of all the vegetables. She sold Kennebec potatoes by the bushel to neighbors and used the money earned to buy Christmas gifts for her family. She also had blueberry bushes for over 40 years, which produced enough blueberries for the entire neighborhood. Then she would make her famous Blueberry coffee cake! Kay would begin a baking (frenzy) from before Thanksgiving through Christmas. She delivered cakes and cookies to neighbors, family and friends at work. If you visited, she would always have you sit with drink in hand and present a tin of cookies for your enjoyment. Kay's moment of fame came when she entered a contest sponsored by WASH FM and won a new Jeep Grande Cherokee SUV. She decided it was too big and fancy, so she traded it for a new Nissan Altima, which was timely and was her final car. The Lord always provides! Kay was a selfless person, who was a friend to so many, a wonderful wife, mother and daughter-in-law. She could always brighten the room with her smile, which was genuine and sweet. We love and miss her so much! Kay is survived by her sister, Ida, daughter, Barbara Clark (Chris), daughter Kathryn Long (James), granddaughters Tamara Arellano (Bobby), Crystal Jankowski (Michal) and great-grandchildren Kaylee Dee Bryant and Kaden Dean Bryant. Kay is preceded in death by her husband, Charles Allen Stone, mother-in-law, Rachel Baker Stone, sisters, Cora, Mary, Barbara and Margaret, brothers, Daniel, Marvin, Everett and Charles and parents, Daniel and Cherry Deweese. The family will travel to Hillsboro Cemetery where Kay will be laid to rest.6 She was buried at Hillsboro Cemetery, Hillsboro, Loudoun Co., Virginia.6 She was born on May 23, 1940 at Giles Co., Virginia.3,6 As of August, 1959,her married name was Stone.6 She married Charles Allen Stone in August, 1959 at Richland Co., South Carolina.4,5,6 Lena Kay DeWeese died on February 10, 2026 at Virginia at age 85.6

Barbara was born April 7, 1942 to parents French and Cherry Fletcher Deweese in Narrows, VA. Barbara worked as a bookkeeper for many years starting at Champion Products and retired from the Clayton News Star in early 2000. Barbara and her late husband, Charles, were married for almost 63 years. They had two daughters, Lynn and Cindy. Barbara was devoted to her family. Often when you saw her she was flanked on either side by her daughters. She taught herself how to sew and mastered the skill so she could provide nice clothes for her girls that she could not otherwise afford. She spent many hours crocheting for extra money but mostly loved to shower her family and friends with her beautiful afghans. Her love of family will live on through her craft as in her later years she made many more afghans for future great grandchildren. Barbara spent many Sundays alongside her husband preparing lunch for her family, a tradition that kept her family united and bonded. Barbara was a frequent guest of the Clayton Library because she loved to read and devoured as many as two books a week. Barbara was also a very faithful member of Fellowship Baptist Church since 1968. She devoted many volunteer hours to the church as their bookkeeper for years. Her legacy of faith and love of the Lord lives on in her daughters and their family. Her daughters will always be grateful to Fellowship Baptist Church and their mom for her diligence in bringing them to their own relationship with Christ. She is survived by daughters, Lynn Cieri and husband Kit, Cindy Morgan and husband Jack; grandchildren, Briana and Mark Powell, Kaylee and Stephen Nalls and Harrison Cieri, great granddaughter Piper Powell; and sisters Ida Kessinger of Pulaski, VA and Lena Stone of Purcellville, VA. Charles Allen Stone1,2,3,4,5

Charles Allen Stone Charles Allen Stone, 84 of Hillsboro, VA passed peacefully into the arms of our Lord, on Wednesday, November 27th, 2024. Born on June 2nd, 1940, in a log cabin on Mountain Road, Hillsboro, VA, to Robert Garfield Stone and Rachel Amanda (Baker) Stone, he spent his childhood directly across the road in a home on 9 acres at the foot of Short Hill Mountain. After Allen's father passed away when he was 13, he later quit school to earn money for his mother. A few years later, she sent him away to Barber school in Staunton, VA where he learned his trade. While he was away, he met the love of his life, Lena Kay Deweese, and married. After the birth of their first daughter, Barbara Ellen Stone, they moved back home with their new family. He went on to own a barber shop business on Market Street in Leesburg, VA. He successfully operated his business for 10 years. During this time, a second daughter, Kathryn Amanda Stone, was born. He also built his first house on the family property while operating a full-time business. After 10 years, Allen sold his business and became a carpenter. In 1969, he built a second house on the family property and moved in, in 1972, where they continued living there until January of 2024. Later in life, he went back to barbering at a shop in Purcellville, VA until retirement. As children, we knew we were loved. We were not showered with material gifts; instead, our parents spent time with us. We have good memories of playing games, such as Badminton, Carroms, Rummy and Checkers. Our father taught us to work hard, hunt, practice good carpentry skills, play the guitar and just appreciate the simple things in life. Some of our fondest memories were when we would visit a family wood lot over in Virginia to cut wood, target practice and cut down our Christmas tree, which consisted of 3 scrubby pine saplings roped together and trimmed down to a perfect pyramid shape. That Charlie Brown tree was beautiful with all the lights and ornaments in place! Life was so much simpler then. Charles Allen Stone is survived by his wife, Lena D. Stone, 2 daughters, Barbara Ellen Clark (Christopher) and Kathryn Amanda Long (James), 2 granddaughters, Tamara Anne Arellano (Bobby); Crystal Marie Jankowski (Michael) and 2 great-grandchildren, Kaylee Dee Bryant, Kaden Dean Bryant (Tamara's children) and numerous cousins. Burial will be at Hillsboro Cemetery, 15142 Hillsboro Road, Purcellville, VA.4 He was buried at Hillsboro Cemetery, Hillsboro, Loudoun Co., Virginia.4 He was born on June 2, 1940 at Loudoun Co., Virginia.2,3,4 He married Lena Kay DeWeese, daughter of Daniel French DeWeese and Cherrie May "Cherry" Fletcher, in August, 1959 at Richland Co., South Carolina.1,4,5 Charles Allen Stone died on November 27, 2024 at Virginia at age 84.4
