He proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force. He was a former captain of Monelison Rescue Squad and a baseball coach. He retired from Harris Trucking. He is survived by one sister, Wanda Bunnell and her husband, Warren; two brothers, Ted Dodgion and his wife, Mary, and Donnie Dodgion and his wife, Peggy; one daughter, Lynette D. Brooks and her husband, David; two sons, William Alan Dodgion and his wife, Karen, and Jeffrey E. Dodgion and his wife, Kelly; six grandchildren, Clint and Eric Brooks, Steven and Kristie Dodgion, and Kyle and Carly Dodgion; a very special person, Brenda Whitehead; numerous brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; and one big close family. The family would like to send a special thanks to the great doctors and nurses at Centra Health. A graveside service will follow in the Elon Baptist Church churchyard cemetery. on March 7, 2009.4

Foster, and his wife, Sue of Midlothian; a sister: Carolyn F. Davis, and her husband, Sam, of Madison Heights; and numerous nieces and nephews. Ronnie was dedicated and loved his family very much. He was especially proud of his granddaughters. He also loved his dog "blue". An avid Virginia Tech fan, he rarely missed a football game in Blacksburg. He was very dedicated to his job at Lynchburg Foundry and later Intermet. He loved bluegrass music and enjoyed going to Galax. Ronnie had a good sense of humor and enjoyed reading and gardening. After retirement his favorite thing was going out for breakfast. He will be missed. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother George “Bill” Martin and a sister, June Marie Martin. Jean is survived by her children, Bernie Gowen, and his wife, Tara, of Rustburg, VA, Lisa Sofley and her husband, Henry, of Wake Forest, NC, Zachariah Gowen, of Lynchburg, loving grandchildren, Chandler, Braxton, Alex, Annie and Thomas, dear sister’s, Joan Martin, Jane Stephenson, and her husband, Virgil, and numerous beloved family and friends. Jean was a beloved one of a kind mother, sister and friend. She devoted her life to God, her family and children. One of her greatest achievements in life was being known by all as “Mama Jean”. Her time at The Genesis House, Paxton Boys Cottage/Presbyterian Home and Foster Parenting made an impact on many lives. She especially loved bringing Joy to her friends and neighbors in her later years at The McGurk House.
