He flew in bombing missions over Germany, many as lead navigator for the mission. He earned seven Air Medals and other awards for his courageous service. After returning from the war, Clinton attended business school and became an expert accountant, earning the Certified Public Accountant license. He worked for an accounting firm for several years, then joined Double Envelope Corporation in 1951. At Double Envelope, he rose to be the Secretary-Treasurer during a time of rapid growth and expansion of the company. He retired from Double Envelope in 1988. Later, they decided to let someone else do the flying and traveled all over the world--Africa, Alaska and the Aleutian Islands, Antarctica, India, Machu Pichu, the Galapagos Islands--every continent except Australia. They enjoyed meeting people and learning about the cultures and wildlife of many places, especially off the beaten track.
