Clayton was a veteran in the United States Army serving in World War II. He fought and served in the Pacific theatre of war. After the war Clayton was a dairy farmer in Hampstead, Maryland. He was always proud of his Black Angus Beef cattle and Holstein dairy cows. He loved his John Deere tractors to do all his work. He was also a member of Greenmount United Methodist Church in Hampstead, Maryland. Most notably he was an amazing husband, great father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Family was very important to him. He always enjoyed getting together during holidays and having crabs in the summer with his family. He was well respected in the community and a member of the Maryland Farm Bureau. Surviving in addition to his wife, are children: Ronald Clayton Poff and wife Carolyn, Faye Ann Niner and Lou Ann Poff all of Hampstead, Maryland. He is also survived by 6 grandchildren and 2 step grandchildren. Bob served as com-pany representative to the C.F.A.D.A., and served on the auto shoe committee. He also served as representative to the Fla. Citrus Sports Assoc., of which the family business was a supporter for years. Bob was an avid sportsman, and especially liked participating in hunting, fishing, and golf. He also enjoyed watching sports on T.V. He was a longtime member of Dubsdred Golf Club. For the past 27 years, his life was enriched by Roberta Breene, his significant other. Since 2004 Bob had been officially retired. On May 11, 2009, he passed away at The Parks Rehab Center. He had been seriously ill and was hospitalized since Dec. 19, 2008. The family and his many friends will remember him for his kind, helpful and humorous way. He was a graduate of Richmond University and Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, KY. Rev. Lucas was the pastor of several churches including: Elmburg Baptist Church; Pleasureville Baptist Church; and North Roanoke Baptist Church before serving in several positions with the North Carolina Baptist State Convention. Rev. Lucas was a member of New Hope Baptist Church in Raleigh.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Lora Lucas. Rev. Lucas is survived by his son, Tim Lucas and his wife, Pam of Cary; sisters, Cecelia Snyder and Mary Williams, both of Roanoke, VA; grandchildren, Shelley Lucas and Holly Lucas both of Cary. Ruth was a long-time employee of AAA with 48 years of service and was a member of Roanoke Valley Baptist Temple. She was preceded in death by her mother and Father; and two wonderful daughters, Betty Anne Anderson and Linda Sue Naff. Surviving is her devoted and loving husband of 74 wonderful years, George "Ed" Altizer; her five granddaughters, Robin Long, Lisa Naff, Dawn Swain (Xavier), Nicole Cunningham-Taylor (Jeriwon), and Ruthy Jennings (Shawn); two great-grandsons, Xavier and Devin Swain; a great-granddaughter, Kierstin A. Cunningham; an extra close sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Dot and Roger Leonard; and far too many friends to name, as she never met a stranger and will always be remembered. Interment will be held in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. on January 19, 2016.³

Sisson, both of Cape Girardeau, Mo., Melanie Manning DeLong of Moneta; great-granddaughter, Sierra Shaw Smith of Cape Girardeau, Mo; several nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be in Restvale Cemetery, Floyd Co. 11 a.m. Thursday, August 12, 1999. The Rev. Gary Edwards will officiate.      Edna Gladys Reed Oppenheim, Edna, 97 passed away May 10 at her home in The Woodlands Retirement Community in Fairfax, Va. She was proceeded in death by her husband of 70 years Lewyn “Oppie” Oppenheim. She is survived by her daughter Carol (Jack) Spencer, her son Charles, 4 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, and her sisters Lois Overstreet and Doris Toth. Edna was an operating room nurse for over 20 years at Northern Virginia and Commonwealth Doctors Hospitals. In the late 1960s after breast cancer surgery, she along with two others started the Reach to Recovery program in Northern Virginia for other breast Cancer survivors. A private graveside service will be held on Friday, May 15 at 3pm at National Memorial Park in Falls Church.⁸ She was buried at National Memorial Park, 7482 Lee Highway, Falls Church, Fairfax Co., Virginia.^8,9 She was born on May 5, 1923 at Bent Mountain, Roanoke Co., Virginia.^3,10,9 As of February 11, 1945,her married name was Oppenheim.⁴ She married Lewyn Meyer Oppenheim on February 11, 1945 at Richmond, Virginia.^1,5,4,9,8 Edna Gladys Reed died on May 10, 2020 at Fairfax, Fairfax Co., Virginia, at age 97.⁸
