Bill had a love of wood working, photography, fishing, gardening, western movies, cross word puzzles, and most recently, developed a keen interest in computers. He was a retiree from Front Royal Hydraulics. He was a long standing member of the Civil Air Patrol, and served as Major. He also served his country as a member of the Merchants Marines. Mary Alice Prater Mary Alice Beel, age 68, of Leopold, MO, went to her heavenly rest on Thursday, April 22nd, 2021 from Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau, MO. She was born on November 3, 1952 in Oak Hill, West Virginia; daughter of Earnest Leonard and Mamie Elizabeth (Toney) Prater. She and Jerome (Jerry) Henry Beel were united in marriage on July 17, 1971 and he survives her of the home. Mary was a beautician and of the Catholic faith. She was a member at Saint Anthony's church in Glennon. She was a devoted wife and friend and will be missed by all. Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Jerry; one brother Earnest L. Prater of North Carolina; two sisters, Sandra Burnett of South Carolina, and Francis Anna Thomas of North Carolina; as well as nieces, nephews, and numerous other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents Earnest Sr. and Mamie and one brother William Robert Prater. Lawhun and his fiance, Debbie Doucette, Tommy L. Lawhun and his companion, Karen Shafer, and her daughter, Regina M. Chancey; seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren, all of the Deltona area. Betty is also survived by her loving brother, Samuel "Buddy" Prater of Marion, his children and her aunt and uncle, Irena and Maitland Prater. Betty also leaves behind her husband's four brothers and four sisters and many nieces and nephews in the Lawhun family. Graveside services for Betty will be held in Caledonia Cemetery. on May 10, 2007.1
