She is survived by a son, Buster Blaine Saunders of Clendenin; daughters, Jewel Watkin of Virginia, Mae Dustin and Shirley Craft of Clendenin, Doris Jean Gandee of Big Chimney, Patricia Huffman of Kansas and Joanna Morris of Clay; brothers, Garland Seabolt of Clendenin and Billy Paul Seabolt of Ohio; 33 grandchildren, 87 great-grandchildren and 78 great-great-grandchildren. Interment will be in Morris Cemetery, Bomont. on February 6, 2007.¹

"Shag" Bowers, 38, died unexpectedly this morning about 10:00 o'clock, at the home of his wife's parents, Mr. and Mrs. N. D. Seldomridge, on Seventh Avenue. Although ill for the past three weeks, his condition had permitted him to be out. He spent his early life at Davis, in Tucker county, where he was born, May 15, 1907, and came to Hinton in 1936 as an employee of the State Road Commission, by whom he had been employed until recently. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge No. 86, A. F. & A. M. at Romney. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Hazel Seldomridge Bowers, and one brother George R. Bowers, of Cumberland, Md. on January 24, 1947.²

Settle Jr., 64, of Dunbar went to rest with the Lord on July 17, 2008. He was the son of Ernestine and the late James R. Settle Sr. of Dunbar. Jim was a graduate of Dunbar High School and retired from Union Carbide/Dow Chemical as a lubrications engineer. He started as an operator at SEVIN, and then worked as a pipefitter with the Mechanical Technology Group at Institute before being transferred to the Lubrication Engineering Skill Center in South Charleston. Jr. served honorably for three years in the United States Army. Jim was a beloved son, father and grandfather and will be greatly missed by all. He leaves behind his son, James R. Settle III and his wife, Jessica, of Warrensburg, Mo; two brothers, Richard and his wife, Pam, of Little River, S.C., and Allen R. of Charleston; sisters, Joann Allen and her husband, Gil, of Topping, Va., Pat Settle and Richard Nelson of Dunbar and Wendy Scites and her husband, Kevin, of Ochlocknee, Ga; and three grandchildren, Josh Settle of Warrensburg, Mo., Kyle Settle of Vacaville, Calif., and Lindsay Despot of Warrensburg, Mo. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, South Charleston. on June 19, 2008.³ He died on July 17, 2008 at West Virginia at age 64.^3,6,5

     Gilbert Lee "Gill" Allen Gilbert L. Allen, age 75 of Topping, Virginia passed away on September 15, 2019. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force and retired from the United States Park Police in Washington D.C. Survivors include wife, JoAnn Allen; L.P. Tuddin; and brother, Dean Allen.⁴ He was born on October 22, 1943 at Washington, D.C..³ He married Jo Ann Settle, daughter of James Rancel Settle Sr. and Ernestine Cecelia Lanzo, on January 4, 1974 at Arlington Co., Virginia.^1,2,3 Gilbert Lee "Gill" Allen died on September 15, 2019 at Virginia at age 75.⁴

She was born in Downers Grove, Ill., and came here in 1985 from Wildwood, Ill. She worked 30 years for Sears, Roebuck and Co. She was a Coast Guard veteran. Her memberships included Methodist Church of Downers Grove, Morton Plant Hospital's foundation and auxiliary, Seminole Lake Country Club and Hospice of the Florida Suncoast. Survivors include two cousins, Gwen Huising, Oldsmar, and John Li nn, Hinsdale, Ill., and a niece, Elizabeth Moburg, Lake Forest, Ill. Moss-Feaster Funeral Homes, Serenity Gardens Chapel, Largo. on July 30, 1994.⁴
