James Ellis "Jim" Perdue was buried at Ovapa Church of God Cemetery, Ovapa, Clay Co., West Virginia.2 He was born on April 22, 1944 at Albany, Clinton Co., Kentucky.1 He married Glenna Jeanne "Jeannie" O'Dell, daughter of Gay August O'Dell and Delphia Marie Samples, on May 30, 1965 at Ovapa, Clay Co., West Virginia.3,1,4 James Ellis "Jim" Perdue died on March 17, 2021 at West Virginia at age 76.2 He James Ellis "Jim" Perdue went to be with the Lord on March 17, 2021. His days were spent with family, friends, and music until the last. Jim never met a stranger and his generous heart and teasing nature brought joy to so many. He was ushered into heaven by many loved ones that had passed before him. Jim faithfully attended Unity Gospel Tabernacle at Stinson, West Virginia, and shared his love of music with school children at Clay County Middle School. He is survived by his loving wife, Jeanne, of fifty-six years, son Eric (Vicky Vance), daughter Kara (Brett Stover), daughter Julia (George Wilkinson) and multiple grand and great-grandchildren, sister Betty McCart, sister Dean George, brother Bill, and sister Carol Fluhr plus a host of in-laws, nieces, nephews, and longtime friends. A graveside service will be held at Ovapa Church of God Cemetery. on March 19, 2021.2

He was born October 22, 1933, in Ivydale, WV, a son of the late Robert Andrew and Eva Lena (Frame) Friend. His sons, David Paul Friend and Robert Gay Friend, brothers, Hubert and Lee, and sisters, Norma and Edna Belle, an infant brother, and an infant sister, also preceded him in death. He was a United States Army veteran, a retired crane operator for Ravenswood Aluminum and member of United Steelworkers Local #5668. He was a member of the Jackson County Wild Food Association, and member of the Church of God, Ravenswood, WV. He enjoyed woodworking and Doyle Lawson bluegrass music. Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Mary Ellen (O'Dell) Friend; sons, Stuart D. Friend and his wife, Patricia, of Ravenswood, and Fredric Alan Friend and his wife, Deborah, of Groveport, OH; grandchildren Emily (Dustin) Darr, Alan (Stephanie) Friend, Albert Friend, Kyle Friend, and Charissa Friend, and a great grandchild, Tucker Darr; brothers, Lloyd Friend of St. Albans, Jack Friend of Charleston, and Garrie Friend of Huntingtown, MD. Kenneth, "Hook," is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Todd and Kelli Samples of Wallback; daughters, Andrea Jill Keiffer and husband Tony of Walton, and Stacy Richards and husband Bobby of Spee; mother, Maycle Samples of Procious; brothers, Steve Samples of Pensacola, Fla., Garland Samples of Bickmore and Randy Samples of Wallback; sisters, Thelma Rhodes of Clendenin, the Rev. Wilma Dobbins of Montgomery, Shelley Edwards of Procious, and Lisa Lewis of Clay. He was a proud grandfather of one granddaughter, Gracen Samples; and five grandsons, Zachary, Alex, and Matthew Keiffer, and Christopher and Joshua Richards. There will be a graveside service in A. J. Samples Cemetery, Procious. on December 13, 2001.2
