     Erma Rada O'Brien Erma Rada McCune, 92, of Ivydale, passed away peacefully Saturday, May 21, 2016. Born March 12, 1924 in Clay, she was the daughter of the late Onico and Ida (Workman) O’Brien. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her loving husband Earl McCune. She was a homemaker, a 50 year member of the Eastern Star and attended Big Otter Baptist Church and a longtime supporter of the disabled Veterans. Erma is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Roger Rice of Elyria, Ohio; sons and daughter-in-law, Boyd and Gina McCune of Charleston and Roger McCune of Parkersburg; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sister, Marmell O’Brien of Enoch; and a special helpful friend, Sharon Vaughn of Duck. Born in Wood County, West Virginia she was one of two children. Betty had lived with her grandmother, Martha Dodd McCune, until her grandmother's passing in 1952 and moved to Akron, Ohio to live with her Uncle Tony and Aunt Blanche. Betty attended grammar and middle school at David Hill and Garfield high school in Akron, Ohio. She would always tell great stories of growing up in Akron in the 1950's and all of Rock and Roll shows she would go to as a teenager. She married John D. Rogers (1938-2011, divorced 1980) of Akron, Ohio when he returned home from serving in the U.S. Air Force. They moved to New York City and then Long Island, New York where all three of her children were born. In 1969 she moved back with her husband to the Akron area and settled in Wadsworth, Ohio and later Medina, Ohio for over 38 years. When illness struck her in 2007, she moved to the Austin, Texas area for treatment and stayed with her youngest son Daniel and his wife Trish and then moved to the senior living complex "The Hometown at Piccadilly" in Pflugerville, Texas where she was a beloved resident with many friends. She was called the "Master" of playing canasta, bingo, and referred to as the Queen of playing lotto scratch off's. Betty's other hobbies included cooking and going on day trips with her buddies or as she referred to this group as the Ya Ya sisterhood. Betty was also an active member of The Shoreline Church in Austin, Texas. Betty was preceded in death by her father, Clifford Mullins; mother, Virginia Miller; and brother, Jack Mullins. She is survived by her two sons, Kenneth W. Rogers of Seville, Ohio, Daniel J. Rogers of Austin, Texas; and one daughter, Teresa L. Pfahler of Panama City Beach, Florida; grandchildren, Steven Rogers of Cleveland, Ohio, Melody Maddamma of Cleveland, Ohio, Alyssa Collins of Canfield, Ohio, and Michael Pfahler of Panama City Beach, Florida. The family would like to thank Compassus hospice care nurses Mo and Shawn and spiritual advisor Graham Patterson for their special care of Betty. Betty will be laid to rest at Eastlawn Memory Gardens in Brunswick, Ohio. on December 19, 2016.2

He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Nitro. He was a member of Masonic Lodge 97, Clay, and Scottish Rite Bodies and Beni Kedem Shrine, Charleston. He was a former "Hometown Hero," a member of the Nitro Senior Citizens Advisory Board and a community volunteer who will be sadly missed. He is survived by his wife, Betty Haines-Moore of Nitro; brother and his wife, Carl Don and Avis Moore of Clay; stepbrothers, Nelson Moore of Virginia and Gordon Moore and his wife, Judy, of Lizemores; niece, Vicky Moore-Cunningham of Charleston; along with many other nieces and nephews and many friends. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park, South Charleston. on March 8, 2005.2

Born on May 31, 1929, he was the son of Irving and Alice (McCune) Moore. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brothers, Hubert (Betty) and Marvin; and his sisters, Glenna Belt and Ethel Moore; and nephew, Jim Belt. He was a graduate of Morris Harvey College and obtained a master's degree from West Virginia University. He taught and coached for many years and also served as assistant superintendent of Clay County Schools. He served as the mayor of Clay, chairman of the Democratic Party and pursued many projects to improve his community. He was a lifelong Mason and a Shriner. He had lifelong passion for teaching, loved children and was known to his grandchildren and their friends as "Daddy Don." He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Avis Starcher Moore; his daughter, Vicki Cunningham Morris of Charleston; and his son-in-law and dear friend, Ira Morris; grandsons, Ryan Cunningham of Charleston, Barry Cunningham (JT) of Dublin, Ohio; and great-grandson, Chance. He is also survived by step-grandchildren, David, Matt and Joel Morris, all of California and Rachel Regan of Md; and great-grandchildren, Nicole, Collin and Erin. Burial will be in the Nebo Baptist Church Cemetery, Nebo, with Masonic Rite Clay Lodge 97 graveside service. The family wishes to thank Becky and Mike Morris, Kay Hubbard, Debbie Rapp, and Leigha Thomas for their loving care and support. They also express appreciation for the services of Kanawha Charleston Hospice and the Emergency Medical Services staff of Clay and Kanawha Counties. on July 25, 2016.4

He was the son of the late John and Edith McCune Davis and was born at Clay July 1, 1928. He was a graduate of Clay County High School, class of 1947, and a Korean War veteran of the 82nd Airborne paratrooper unit. Bill was a graduate of the Applied Art Academy of Akron, Ohio. He spent 30 years with the W.Va. Division of State Parks and Recreation as both a Park Superintendent of Droop Mountain State Park and Sign Supervisor for the state parks in West Virginia, located on Carnifex Ferry State Park. Bill was a Christian and member of the Irish Street Church of Christ in Summersville. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister. Surviving: Wife, Deloris Love Davis; daughters, Jill McCoy, Joy (Harlan) Metheney; sons, Joe (Sonja), Jeff (Robin), Jim (Lisa), Jason Davis; 14 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; brother, Harry Davis; and sisters, Helen Keeling, Joan Hunt. Burial with military honors will follow in the W.Va. Memorial Gardens at Calvin. on December 30, 2018.3
