Waddell died at his residence in Troy, Sunday afternoon, of a disease of the stomach, called gastritis, from which ha had been suffering for a long time. He was about 64 years of age. He was a soldier during the Rebellion, a member of the 10th Kansas, and was drawing a pension. He leaves a widow and six young children. He was a Mason, and was buried Tuesday, by the order. on September 8, 1887.2

West went to be with the Lord, Monday, December 25, 2023 at the age of 89. Born in Roanoke, VA on February 2, 1934, he was the son of the late Charles M. West, Sr. and Hester Collins West. Vic graduated from Fincastle High School prior to joining the workforce where he served 31 years at Lonestar Industries. Vic married the love of his life after running away together on New Year's Eve in 1953. Victor and Barbara would have celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary this year. Victor was ordained as a Deacon on October 8, 1967 at First Baptist Church in Gardendale, Alabama where he worked with youth in R.A.'s and Jr. Achievement. Vic was a man with a servant's heart who loved his family and genuinely cared for others. Vic was a fan of Nascar, especially Dale Earnhardt. He loved the Washington Redskins, fishing, and watching the Blue Angels fly. Victor enjoyed spending time in Florida, golfing, and taking care of his cherished El Caminos. Most of all, Vic enjoyed spending time with his family. He was wholeheartedly devoted to his grandchildren, having never told them "no" their entire life, and his great granddaughter Hadley, who brought him so much joy and always a smile to his face. Victor was predeceased by his wife of 69 years, Barbara Ann West (Day), son Kevin West, brother Charles M. West, Jr. (Nellie), and sister Margaret West Amos (Dave). Victor is survived by his daughters, Vickie West Rice (Charles), Patricia Lee West; grandchildren C. Andrew Rice, Victoria Rice Eisenberg (Chase), and great granddaughter Hadley Ann Eisenberg. on December 31, 2023.7

Cody, 63, died at his home at 316 Summers Street, at 11:45 o'clock Saturday morning following an illness of three months. He had been in declining health for the past year. Born in Monroe County, he had spent the greater part of his life in Monroe and Summers counties, and was employed for 30 years in the maintenance-of-way department of the Chesapeake and Ohio Railway. The body will be removed from the Ronald Meadows Funeral Home to the home of a stepdaughter, Eva Iddings, at Mane, this afternoon and funeral services will be conducted at the New Hope Church at 2 o'clock Monday by the Rev. C. H. Martin, the Rev. Harry R. Peyton, and the Rev. B. F. Wright.
