She was preceded in death by her husband, Posey Weeks; parents, Chymer and Lena Akers; brother, J.T. Akers; and sister, Lucille Duncan. She is survived by a son, Steve Weeks of Greenwood; daughter and son-in-law, Marilyn and Randy Gallimore of Floyd; grandsons, Steven (Allison) Weeks of Riner; Matthew (Jessica) Gallimore of Floyd; Andrew (Charity) Weeks of Troutville; and granddaughter, Sara (Justin) Coleman of Floyd. Also surviving are her seven great grandchildren, Hunter and Melanie Gallimore, Isaiah, Eli, and Asher Coleman, and Silas and Mason Weeks; sister-in-law, Lucille Akers; and very special nieces and nephews. Frances truly loved her family and was devoted to caring for them. She was a dedicated wife and mother, a perfect example of the type of woman ordained by God. She loved to babysit, reciting every nursery rhyme imaginable. She was a faithful member and deaconess of Pleasant Valley Church of the Brethren. As a Sunday School teacher she lived as she taught, treating others with kindness and never speaking an unkind word. She enjoyed spending time sitting on her porch swing overlooking God's creation. Following her recent stroke, Frances could still sing from memory so many of her cherished hymns with the most beautiful harmony. The funeral service will be at Pleasant Valley Church. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. on October 8, 2018.2

Loy was hired as one of the first employees of Ingersoll Rand Roanoke and continued there for over 25 years working in manufacturing. He loved to hike and enjoy nature around his home in Roanoke, Va. and second home in Mauldin, S.C. He was a fiercely independent man who enjoyed projects and loved tinkering with old equipment and machinery. He will be sorely missed by his family and his community. A graveside service will be held at Laurel Branch Cemetery. on January 25, 2018.3

Barbara Jean Belcher Barbara Jean Harrison, 76, of Roanoke, passed away Tuesday, April 4, 2017. Barbara was born in Floyd to the late Warren C. and Ilene Weeks Belcher. She is survived by her beloved daughter Diona, two spoiled cats, and brother Loy Belcher. Barbara was a sweet and funny lady who left a wonderful impression on everyone she met. She found great joy in gardening and tinkering with her vintage treasures. Barbara spent 30 years in the D.C. area, partnering to build multiple successful businesses, but she rather enjoyed her second career at Roanoke Antique Mall. Her caring and generosity will truly be missed. Many thanks to those at Emily Couric Cancer Center & UVA Medical Center, Blue Ridge Cancer Care & Roanoke Memorial Hospital, who fight Leukemia every day.
