She is survived by one grandson, Steve R. McGuire and wife Betty J. of Pearisburg, two great grandchildren, Sarah L. Haga and Justin B. McGuire and six great great grandchildren Courtney and Heather Haga, Hailey Scott and Justin McGuire and wife Heather, Jaden, Noah and Emma McGuire, one step great granddaughter, Michelle Blankenship and two step great great grandchildren, Kristopher and Lauren Blankenship, two sisters, Louise Snyer and husband Paul, Julie Thomas and one brother, Ed Stephens. Born October 18, 1926, in White Gate, VA, she was the daughter of the late Samuel Grayson and Mary Alice Poff Stephens. Julia was a member of the First Missionary Baptist Church in Ballard, WV. She worked as a yarn examiner at Celanese in Narrows, VA. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and friend. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by five brothers, Woodrow Vance Stephens, Basil Stephens, Samuel Grayson Stephens Jr., John Edward Stephens, and Dean Johnson Stephens; and four sisters, Mary E. Stephens, Margaret Jane Runions, Catherine Ratcliff, and Genoia Louise Snider. Survivors include one son, C.G. He was born in Newport, Va. March 9, 1924 to the late John Burton and Lizzie Snow Lucas on Saunders. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Maude A. Saunders; son, Allen Brown Saunders; sister and brother-in-law, Edna and Charlie Myers; brother and sister-in-law, Fred and Iva Saunders. He is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Arnita S. and John Perfater, Machell S. and Jay M. Schmolitz, all of Blacksburg; son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Sylvia Saunders, Eggleston; grandchildren, Jay and Jennifer Perfater, Scott and Ginny Perfater, Adam and Gola Perfater, Michael Schmolitz, Melanie Schmolitz, Vivian Saunders; great-grandchildren, Brendan, Cameron, Julianna, and Arabella. Also left to cherish his memory are his extended family, church friends and neighbors. The family wishes to give special thanks to the skilled and caring staff at Heritage Hall, Rich Creek. Robert Herber Sours Jr. Robert “Bob” Heber Sours, Jr., age 85 a longtime resident of Ocean Springs, passed away on Friday, March 20, 2020 in Gulfport, MS. Bob is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Marian Kiser Sours, of Ocean Springs; his daughter Caroline Sours Alexander and her husband John of Chicago, IL; and one sister, Peggy Sours Tompkins, of Roanoke, VA. Bob is a US Navy veteran, and was an electrical engineer. He earned his degree in Blacksburg, VA. He worked for Newport News Shipbuilding in Virginia before moving to the coast to become a Supervisor of Shipbuilding at Ingalls in Pascagoula. He was a Presbyterian; a devoted husband, father and friend. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. The family would like to thank Terry and Mike Waters at the Personal Care Home, along with the caring nurses and staff at St. Joseph Hospice.4 He was born on September 2, 1934 at Roanoke Co., Virginia.2,3,5 He married Alice Deanna Runions, daughter of Victor Mason Runions and Margaret Jane Stephens, on May 20, 1961 at Pearisburg, Giles Co., Virginia.5 Robert Herber Sours Jr. died on March 20, 2020 at Gulfport, Harrison Co., Mississippi, at age 85.3,4

Born in Giles County on February 28, 1937, he was a son of the late Armstrong and Lucy Price McGuire. He was a retired heavy equipment operator for Hobet Mining in Logan, W.Va. and a veteran of the U. S. Army 101st Airborne. He was preceded in death by a sister, Ruth Blassendell, a brother, Curtis (Happy) McGuire and a daughter, Mary Margaret McGuire. on March 25, 1999.1
