Also surviving are sisters, Ocie Thompson, Lena McAlexander (Archie), Jane Ernestine Nichols; brothers, James Ernest Martin (Connie) and Vernon Martin (Sandra); two sisters-in-law, Evelyn King and Cigile Martin. Other survivors include a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. Her greatest joys were keeping her grandsons, watching them grow into manhood, and seeing them happily married. She enjoyed her great-grandchildren, family reunions, and the many celebrations with her family throughout the years. Donna was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church in Christiansburg where she worshipped until her health prohibited her attending. Interment will follow in Sunset Cemetery. on January 10, 2018.3

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, May 11, 2008, at Oakey's South Chapel. The Pastor Greg Fleshman will officiate. Interment will follow at the King Cemetery on Bent Mountain. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at Oakey's South Chapel, 540-989-3131. on May 10, 2008.2

He was loved very much by his family and friends. Dennis is survived by his three children, William "Billy" G. Kanode and his wife, Lucy, Tammy Kanode Hardy and her husband, Adam, and Lorie Kanode Neylon and her husband, Michael: five grandchildren, Ashton Kanode, Paige Neylon, Rena Hardy, James Hardy and Mattie Neylon; and one sister, Nancy S. Kanode. Burial will follow at Sherwood Cemetery in Salem, Va. on February 19, 2023.4

Kanode; three children, Billy Kanode and his wife, Lucinda of Roanoke, Tammy Hardy and her husband, Adam of Bedford, and Lorie Neylon and her husband, Michael of Lynchburg; five grandchildren, Ashton Kanode, Rena Hardy, James Hardy, Paige Neylon and Mattie Nylon; three brothers, Dan Swanson and his wife, Pat, Gordon Wayne Swanson, and Tucker Swanson and his wife, Linda; three sisters, Gay Mary Carver and her husband, Wayne, Kathy St.Clair and her husband, Larry; and Rama Cline and her husband, Marvin; sister-in-law, Nancy Kanode, and numerous nieces and nephews.
