He was the loving husband of Dianne Hunt Williams for 48 years. Born on September 11, 1944, in Lynchburg, Va., he was the son of the late Ernest "Jack" Williams and the late Eula Cumbie Williams. Clarence proudly served his country from 1962 to 1966 in the United States Air Force. He completed his undergraduate degree in Business and his Master's degree in Administration from Lynchburg College. He retired as the Plant Controller from Archer Creek Foundry with over 35 years of service. Clarence was a member of Union Christian Church in Madison Heights, Va. Clarence enjoyed meeting with and talking to his friends over breakfast and lunch. Clarence was a collector, especially of World War II memorabilia. His greatest joys in life were his family and watching his grandchildren in their many activities. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant brother, Calvin Lynwood Williams. In addition to his wife, Dianne Williams, he is survived by his sons, Eddie Williams and wife, Annie, and Billy Williams and wife, Lisa; four grandchildren, Parker, Owen, Walker and Cora Williams; sister, Gaynell "Sally" Schalk; in-laws, Billy and Edna Hunt; and numerous other family members and friends. The family will receive friends from 6:30 until 8 p.m. on Thursday, July 5, 2018, at Whitten Monelison Chapel. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 6, 2018, at Whitten Monelison Chapel with Pastor Jim Freeman and Pastor Todd Blake officiating. Interment will follow at Spring Hill Cemetery. Military honors will be presented by the American Legion Post 16. For those wishing to make memorial contributions, the family requests that you to consider the Amherst County Humane Society or Union Christian Church. Whitten Monelison Chapel is assisting the Williams famiy. on July 4, 2018.4

In addition to his mother, Shane is survived by his daughter, Krisanna Elmore, and her mother, Susan Reed, of White Sulphur Springs, W.Va; his brother, Mark Elmore and his wife, Susan, of Clifton Forge; four aunts, Helen and Bill Mac Carter of Covington, Catherine Smith of Covington, Darlene and Gene Smith of Richmond and Betty and Reb Combs of New Castle; three uncles, Bob and Jean Elmore of New Castle, Johnnie and Diane Elmore of New Castle and Ronnie and Mary Elmore of Roanoke; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and close fishing buddies. A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Arritt Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Billy Price officiating. Interment will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery. Linda was very kind and caring to everyone she met and she touched many lives. When her friends had problems, they would come to her for comfort. She loved others because she loved her Lord Jesus Christ. Linda also took great care in planting and tending to her plants and flowers. She retired from ITT after many active years of service. She was preceded in death by her father, Melvin Akers. Surviving are her husband of 27 years, Kenneth Sowder; mother, Gloria "Madeline" Akers; sons, Kenneth Dolinger, and Alan Sowder and wife, Patricia; grandson, Chris Sowder and wife, Sadonna; great-grandson, Scott Sowder, and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Pastor Bob and Barbara Sowder, Wayne and Sandy Sowder, and Loretta Fields. Services will be held 10 a.m. on Saturday, February 21, 2009, at Oakey's South Chapel with Pastor Jeff Gardner, Pastor Jack Woods and Pastor Bob Sowder officiating. Interment will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens.
