She was born in Roanoke on December 17, 1921. Jean was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Alvin C. Hale; and her parents, Bessie W. and William E. Nash.
She was a graduate of Jefferson High School and National Business College, and a lifetime member of Greene Memorial United Methodist Church. Jean was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother, and will be greatly missed by her three daughters and sons-in-law, Susan and David Haynes of Roanoke, Va., Charlotte and Johnson Moore of Pittsburgh, Pa., and Elizabeth Lemacks of Centennial, Colo; and her seven grandchildren, Jennifer, Kathryn, and Meredith Haynes, Evan (Eileen) and Ryan Moore, and Megan and Erica Lemacks. A private graveside service was held at Sherwood Memorial Park on Monday, March 27, 2017. To honor Jean's love of animals, any memorial contributions may be made to an animal rescue or shelter of your choice. on March 29, 2017.2
