Survivors include a sister, Janet Zutaut of Crab Orchard; two sons, James Crook and his wife and special caregiver, Essie, of Hartman Lane, and John Crook and wife, Linda, of Limestone, Tenn; three grandsons: Edward C. Crook of Shady Spring, J.W. Crook of Telford, Tenn., and Shawn Crook of Telford; several nieces and nephews, and a special friend, Nancy Ealey. Service will be 2 p.m. Sunday, January 24, 2010, at Kiser-Rose Hill Chapel, 125 Idletime Dr., Greeneville, with the Pastor Martha Beamer officiating. He was a son of the late Andy and Bertha Bowers Freshour and was preceded in death by his first wife: Lori Lowery Freshour; a stepson: Bobby Lowery; and a sister: Velma Hixson. The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. today at Kiser Rose Hill Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 4 o'clock Tuesday afternoon in the funeral home chapel. The Rev. Raymond Perry will officiate. Interment will follow in River Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Shawn Crum, Brandy Crum, Ronald Crum, John Crook, Jon W. Crook, and Shawn Crook. Honorary pallbearers will be Brian Presley, Byrd Malone, and Glen Waddell. on May 18, 2009.2

Russell O'Neal and Rev. Gene Hall in charge. Burial will follow in the Deeds Cemetery at Jumping Branch. Crook died late Wednesday in a Lexington, Ky. Hospital after a long illness. Born July 21, 1923, at Jumping Branch, he was a son of Elmer C. Crook of Jumping Branch and the late Alma Bragg Crook. He was employed for 12 years as a stock room manager of the Beckley G. C. Murphy Co. and later worked for the Wayne County Board of education as principal of Camp Creek School near Huntington. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 18 of Beckley and the Church of the Brethren at Crab Orchard. He is survived by his wife Lois Farley Crook, two sons, James Edward and John Norman, both at home; a sister, Mrs. Pearl Wiley, Beaver and two brothers, Phillip and Miles Stanley Crook, both of Jumping Branch. The body will be taken from the Ronald Meadows Funeral Home in Hinton to the church one hour before the services. Friends may call after 3 p.m. Saturday. on May 21, 1971.2
