Fear of Los Angeles; a daughter, Mrs. Vera Utterback of Sigourney; two brothers, Melvin of Rock Island and Glenn of Hayesville; and two grandchildren. Another brother, Dea Fear, died several months ago and a sister, Mrs. Estes Rose, also preceded him in death. The funeral will held Sunday at the Reynolds chapel here at an hour to be set. Burial will be in the Garrett cemetery near Delta. on May 10, 1952.⁷

On June 15, 1917, he was married to Jessie Mae Davis, who passed away several years ago. His entire life was spent in Keokuk county. He was preceded in death by his wife, two daughters in infancy, Helen Minnie, Eva Lois and three brothers, Alvin, Melvin and Dean, and one sister, Mrs. Irene Rose. A brother and sister died in infancy. He is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Thelma Shipley and Mrs. Orville Thompson, both of Sigourney; and Mrs. Veda Ewald of What Cheer. Six grandchildren, Larry and Gary Shipley. Mrs. Margery Veach, Gaila Thompson of Sigourney; Sandra and Shirley Ewald of What Cheer and three great-grandchildren, Philip Shipley, Robin Shipley, and Rhonda Veach. He had resided in Rock Island for the past 17 years. He had been employed in maintenance department of the J. I. Case Co. and as a member the First Methodist church in Delta. Surviving are the widow; two daughters, Mrs. Alice M. Wilson and Mrs. Dorothy Archer, both of Rock Island, one brother, Glenn, of Sigourney, and three grandchildren. His parents, three brothers and two sisters preceded him in death. on September 26, 1960.⁴

     Thelma Frances Fear Thelma F. Keller, 90, of What Cheer, died Wednesday, September 03, 2008 at the Manor House in Sigourney. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 6, 2008 beginning at 2:00 PM at the Harden Funeral Chapel in What Cheer. A funeral luncheon will be served at the What Cheer United Methodist Church at 12:00, noon on Saturday. Visitation will begin after 12:00 noon, on Friday, with the family present 6:00 to 8:00 PM. Memorial contributions may be made to the What Cheer United Methodist Church. Thelma Frances Keller was born February 3, 1918 in Delta, Iowa, the daughter of Glen and Jessie Davis Fear. She was a 1936 graduate of the Delta High. At the age of nineteen, she was united in marriage to her husband Earl "Pete" Shipley on August 13, 1937 until his death in 1982. Thelma began her working career at the Bakery on the north side of the square in Sigourney. From there she began working at Bale's Nursing Home, which is now Kapple's Dental Office. Most recently Thelma was a Deputy Recorder for Keokuk County. On February 1, 1985 she married Wayne Keller who passed way in 2003. Thelma was a member of the United Methodist Church of What Cheer. She made it her hobby collecting clocks and jewelry, she also enjoyed gardening, canning, cooking, and each year for Christmas she would make "homemade noodles" to give to her entire family. As any special grandmother would, Thelma always looked forward to her grandchildren spending the night at her house on the weekends. Thelma Frances Keller died mid-afternoon on Wednesday, September 3, 2008 at the Manor House Care Center in Sigourney. She is survived by her son, Gary Shipley, of What Cheer; a sister, Veda Ewald of What Cheer, nine grand children and nineteen great grand children.      Wanda Margery Fear Wanda Margery Thompson, 69, of Olathe, Kansas, formerly of Sigourney died Sunday, Aug. 30, 1992 at Olathe Medical Center. She was born February 22, 1923 in Sigourney, Iowa. She was a retired Food Service worker for the Olathe School District and the Sigourney School District. She was a member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary in Sigourney and was involved with the Hospital Auxiliary in Sigourney. She is survived by her husband, Orville O. Thompson; two daughters, Gaila G. VanDee and Margery M. Veach; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and two sisters, Thelma Keller and Veda Ewald. Funeral services will be held today (Wednesday) at 2:00 p.m. at the W. L. Frye and Son Funeral Home in Olathe.
