He was born February 15, 1943, in Ironto, Va., to the late Russell John and Lottie Newman East. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Clyntis East. He retired from Norfolk and Southern Railroad as a signal supervisor after 32 years of service. He enjoyed restoring classic cars, raising German Shepherds, and was a member of the Moose Lodge at Williamson, W.Va.. He is survived by his wife, Judy Elaine East; sons, Robert East, of Ironto, Va., and Brian East and wife, Shirley, of Statesville, N.C; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and aunts; brother-in-law, Bob and Jean Perdue, of Blacksburg, Va; sister-in-law, Kathie and Reggie Conner, of Shawsville, Va; and mother-in-law, Odell Perdue, of Shawsville, Va. The family would like to thank Good Samaritan Hospice and caregivers Daniel Boone and Trish. A graveside funeral service will be conducted at Reesedale Cemetery. on September 27, 2010.²
