Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 16, 1998 at 11 a.m. at the John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home Chapel, Salem. The Rev. Carl Basham will officiate. Interment will follow in Sherwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 15 from 6 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. on September 15, 1998.²

Mr. Ferguson was a native of Roanoke, VA and made Aiken County his home for the past 40 years. He was a retired Scalar at Pepperidge Farm Inc. Aiken Plant with 14 years of service. Mr. Ferguson was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He was a member of the Nazarene Church in Pelion, SC. Additional survivors in-clude two sons, Wilbur Thomas (Agnes) Ferguson, Jr., Fayetteville, NC, Charles Edward Ferguson, Kitchings Mill; one daughter, Lori Jean Ferguson (Robert) Newell, Kitchings Mill; four brothers, Melvin Ferguson, Virginia, Charles Ferguson, Virginia, Donnie Ferguson, North Carolina, Glen Ferguson, Oregon; one sister, Barbara Leffell, Virginia; two grandchildren, Robert Joseph Newell and Christopher Elijah Newell; a number of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, especially his buddy Ray Strang. Fergie's easy going lifestyle and love for his family and friends will be missed. God was and is good to all of us for giving us all such good memories of the many years Fergie was in our lives. We will cherish them all for as long as we live here on this earth until we will be with him again in Heaven. In lieu of flowers the family has suggested that memorials be made to the Georgia Health Sciences Medical Center Childrens Hospital, 1120 15th Street, Augusta, GA 30912. The family would like to express many thanks to the staff at UniPac and to United Hospice for all their support to us as a family, their love and care they gave Fergie. May God bless you all.
