He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, the Elks Lodge and Harmony Society, and was a past president of the Vincennes Optimist Club. A graduate of the Army Air Corps Aviation Cadet School, he was a captain in World War II. He was born Feb. 18, 1925, in Vincennes, the son of Richard H. and Ellen M. (Clifton) Davis. Surviving are his mother of Vincennes; a daughter, Teresa LaFromboise of San Carlos, Calif; two sons, Dierk of Terre Haute and Doug of Cincinnati; four sisters, Connie Gognat, Naomi Zwolinski, Anita Wolfe and Sondra Sievers, all of Vincennes; two brothers, Lyle Davis of Martinsville and Ron Davis of Vincennes; and, four grandchildren. His wife, Bettie M. (Hughes) Davis, is deceased. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday at Sacred Heart Church by the Rev. James Blessinger.      Connie J. Wilson Connie Jean (Wilson) Buckles, 65, passed peacefully on the evening of April 30, 2007, after a heroic battle with cancer. She was a lifelong resident of Anderson and was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence H. Wilson and Margaret G. (Lawson) Wilson of Anderson. Connie is survived by her husband of 27 years, Donald Buckles; their four children, Jennifer R. Ohayon, Ph.D. and Jane A. Pinaire, Ph.D., both of McCordsville, Karen (Buckles) Arndt of Fremont, and Donald J. Buckles of Asheboro, N.C; and their six grandchildren, Binyamin Ohayon, Carrie Arndt, Andrew Arndt, Kevin Arndt, Markus Buckles and Lucas Buckles. Connie graduated from Anderson High School in 1958 and from Holy Cross (Notre Dame) Nursing School in 1961. For 30 years, she served not only as a nurse, but also as a comforting confidant, to the employees of the Guide Lamp division of General Motors. She retired in 1996. During her retirement years, Connie practiced her music, enjoyed floral arranging and various crafts, and raised champion English bulldogs. Connie touched the lives of many by her faith in God, her laughter and her unfailing generosity. Service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Home with the Rev. Paul Smith officiating. Entombment will be in East Maplewood Cemetery. Visitation will be 3 to 6 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
