Bolen Sr., 70, of 304 Cardinal Avenue, Princeton, died Wednesday, June 10, 2009, at Bowers Hospice House in Beckley. Born March 8, 1939, in Coal City, he was the son of the late Charles Clenda and Edith Helen Kiblinger Bolen. He retired from the United States Navy after 21 years of service and also retired from the Mercer County School System. Larry attended Stocco High School in Coal City. He had 25 years of volunteer service with the local chapter of the Glenwood Action Civitan Club, an organization for funding programs to help mentally and physically impaired individuals in the Mercer County area. He was a member of Yesterday's Rides Antique Car Club and attended First United Methodist Church in Princeton. In addition to his parents, one sister, Darlene Lansbury, and one brother-in-law, John Shulick, preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife, Bettye Sue Bolen; one daughter, Teresa (Tommy) Shafer of Omaha, Neb; one son, Larry E. Bolen Jr. of Ravenna, Ohio; two step-daughters, Kathy (Mike) Quesenberry of Princeton, and Julia (Jamey) Noland of Scott Depot; four grandchildren, Drew and Noah Shafer, and Alexandria (Chris) Morton and Jodia Morton; four step-grandchildren, Tierney, Delaney, and Brayden Quesenberry, and Kaylie Noland; five great-grandchildren, A.J., C.J., Elizabeth, Norman, and Tina Morton; three brothers, Lanny Bolen of Lewisburg, Leslie (Dee) Bolen of Ghent, and Leon (Rachel) Bolen of Grandview; two sisters, Judy Shulick of Culpepper, Va., and Carolyn Bolen of Weatherford, Texas; one brother-in-law, Corky Lansbury of Indian Head, Md; and a host of nephews and nieces. Funeral services will be conducted at 6 p.m. today, Saturday, June 13, 2009, at the George W. Seaver Chapel of Seaver Funeral Home in Princeton with Rev. Randy Adkins officiating. Military service and graveside rites will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 15, 2009, at the Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Va. on June 12, 2009.3

She spent many of these years caring for and helping raise 13 children. She had been a resident of Princeton since 1993 moving here from Richmond, Va. Survivors include four brothers, Charles "Henry" Conner and wife Cecelia of Lincoln, Neb., Lawrence Conner and wife Tiny, Lewis D. Conner, Sr. and wife Regina, and Jerry Conner and wife Liz all of Princeton; and one sister, Phyllis Shockley of Bumpass, Va. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 1, 2009 at the George W. Seaver Chapel of Seaver Funeral Home in Princeton with Pastor Rich Hodges officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Park Cemetery in Princeton. Pallbearers will be Aaron Conner, Brian Conner, Buddy Conner, Brian Dickerson, David Vance and Charlie Grubb.
