Mrs. Journell is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. R. Franklin Hough Jr. of Salem. Earlier Journell received the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, the Combat Infantryman's Badge, and the Expert and Sharpshooter badges for marksmanship. Journell, a 1968 graduate of Andrew Lewis High, arrived in Vietnam Feb. 17, 1970.
