He was the son of the late Oral Otha Paxton and Elva Naomi Schoolcraft Paxton. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Faye Paxton; brothers, Larry, Clifford, Clifton, Garland and Emory; and sisters, Garnet, Naomi and Helen. Roger was a member of Sand Run Gospel Tabernacle. He retired in 2007 as an employee of the State of WV. He is survived by: daughter, Tina McCann (Mike); son Roger Paxton II; step sons, David Deusenberry (Karen) and Scott Deusenberry (Crystal); and brother, Michael Paxton; 8 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.      Larry E. Paxton Larry E. Paxton, 66 of Clendenin, passed away on Wednesday, Jun 23, 2021 at Thomas Memorial Hospital. Youngest of 10 children of the late Oral Otha Paxton and Elva Naomi Schoolcraft Paxton. Proceeded in death by 4 brothers, Clifford, Garland, Emory, and Clifton Paxton and 3 sisters, Helen, Naomi and Garent. After a vehicle accident in 1973 left him paralyzed. Larry went on to beat the odds and completed comprehensive rehab at WV State Rehabilitation Center in Institute to reclaim his independence. He went on to graduate from WV State College, earing a degree in social work. He was the Executive Direct of the Appalachian Center for Independent Living and spent his entire career serving others with disabilities and fighting for equal rights and fair treatment. A 1985 recipient of the Jefferson Award for Public Service and received many other acknowledgements and awards in his field. He enjoyed country music and loved to sing.4 He was born on January 19, 1955 at West Virginia.5 He died on June 23, 2021 at South Charleston, Kanawha Co., West Virginia, at age 66.4

     Billy Ray Noggle Billy Ray Noggle, June 25, 1943 – October 31, 2021. Billy Ray Noggle, husband of the late Cricket P. Noggle, passed away Sunday, October 31, 2021, after a short illness. He was 78. Bill was born in Marietta, Georgia, to the late Angus Edmund Noggle and Roberta Dobbs Noggle. Surviving are his children, Kandy (Chad) Brooks from Pickens, SC, and Kevin (Julie) Noggle of Macon, GA and most importantly a grandson Brennan Brooks. He is also survived by two brothers, Roy Noggle and Donnie Noggle both from Marietta and a sister Betty Fann from Marietta. Billy was predeceased in death by his brother Lewis Noggle of Austell, Georgia. Bill attended Osborne High School and graduated in 1961. He was a member of the 1960 Osborne High School state basketball championship team. He was a member of multiple sports and clubs in high school. He served six years in the Air National Guard, and he later attended West Georgia College where he received a degree in Business Administration in 1969. He began his career working at Texize which was later bought by Dow Chemical and retired after 25 years of service. Bill was an avid sports fan and loved Georgia Tech and the South Carolina Gamecocks. He was a faithful blood and platelet donor and loved to read. The family would like to send a special thank you to Bill’s ER nurse, Jessica Mills, Prisma Health Greenville as well as the entire staff at Cottingham Hospice House in Seneca, South Carolina, for loving on our daddy.2 He was buried at Georgia Memorial Park, 2000 Cobb Parkway SE, Marietta, Cobb Co., Georgia.1 He married Naomia F. Paxton, daughter of Oral Otha Paxton and Elva Naomi Schoolcraft.3 Billy Ray Noggle was born on June 25, 1943 at Marietta, Cobb Co., Georgia.2 He died on October 31, 2021 at Georgia at age 78.2

Don was the son of the late Ben D. Shafer and Garnet Marie Paxton Shafer. He was also preceded in death by his son, Jefferson Dee Shafer, and brother, Gregory Dee Shafer. Don, a Vietnam War Air Force veteran and admiral of the Great Kanawha River Navy, was also a longtime member of the Charleston Moose. He started out in the trucking industry with Smith Transfer in Belle and later with Houff Transfer and Shafer Pipeline. Don is survived by his daughters, Stephanie Ellen Shafer of Charleston, Kelly Marie Pearson (Robert Mitchell) of Virginia and Heather Renee Shafer (Bob Diamond) of Delaware; sisters, Joyce Hammons of South Carolina, Debra Shafer (Charlotte Lucas) of Malden and Jennifer Twyman of Malden; grandchildren, Christopher Shafer, Emily Johnson, Kourtney Kozak, Hannah and Christian Pearson; nieces and nephews, Suzanna Gillispie, Michael Brewer and Jessica Twyman; lifelong friend, John Parker; and special friends, Betty Morell and Pat Coleman.
