B. Walters, of South Side, died today in the Hinton Hospital four hours after being admitted. She suffered a cerebral hemmorage early this morning, although she had been enjoying apparently good health until stricken suddenly, and her death was unexpected. Born in Summers county March 19, 1882, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ferdinand Hoback, she had resided in Summers county practically all of her life, and at the South Side of Hinton since 1925. She was a member of the New Hope Methodist church. The body was removed to the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors pending completion of funeral arrangements. on July 1, 1949.3

Mr. Walters was a retired employee of the Chesapeake and Ohio Railway company. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Ethel Meadows Walters; four stepsons, Fred and Wesley Meadows both of Hilldale, Earl Meadows in the U. S. Navy in California and Kenneth Meadows with the Army; four halfbrothers, Estel Walters, Kansas City, Mo., Herbert Walters, Mabscott, Claude Walters, Jacksonville, Florida, Woodrow Walters of Huntington; two half-sisters, Mrs. Myrtle Lambert of Virginia Beach, Virginia and Mrs. Virginia Layne of Mabscott. on September 7, 1957.4

Ellison died on November 27, 1949 at Marie, Summers Co., West Virginia, at age 76.3,4 He HINTON, Nov. 27 — Ira H. Ellison, 76, widely-known farmer of the Marie-Ballangee community, ended his life at 10:30 o'clock Sunday morning by placing the muzzle of a double barrel shotgun against his left chest, and firing it with a forked stick. He had been in ill health for some considerable time, and suffering from a nervous ailment for more than a year. Going to a corn crib near his home, he placed the butt of the gun against the inside corner, and discharged one barrel into his chest, dying almost instantly. An occupant of the house said she looked out the window upon hearing the shot, and saw him attempt to rise twice, but he was dead when reached. A note was found in his trousers pocket, saying he wanted to be dressed in a suit which he had laid out, where he would like to be buried, and making some disposition of his estate. He had been a farmer all his life, and a resident of the Marie-Ballengee community practically all his life. The body was removed to the Barnette Funeral Home, where an inquest was held Sunday afternoon. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 o'clock Tuesday afternoon at the New Hope church, near Marie, by the Rev. B. F. Wright, of Talcott, and burial will be made in the church cemetery. He is survived by his wife, the former Miss Maude Hoback; two sons; Charles Ellison, of Scarbro, and Lloyd H. Ellison, of Kayford; three brothers; O. H. Ellison of Grand Junction, Colo., E. E. Ellison, of Ronceverte, and Burne Ellison, of Roanoke; a sister, Mrs. W. G. Harper, of Laurell, Miss., three grand children and one great grand child. on November 28, 1949.4

She is also survived by two grandchildren and three greatgrandchildren. Funeral services will be in the New Hope Methodist Church in Mane with the Rev. Charles Dameron and the Rev. Harry Drake officiating. Burial will follow in the New Hope Methodist Church cemetery. Friends may call at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Home afternoon. The body will be taken to the home of Mrs. Whitenack after 4 p.m. today. Nephews will serve as pallbearers. on March 15, 1970.3

Born on February 13, 1923, at Fayetteville, he was the son of the late Other Lee and Aldena Hoback Akers. Mr. Akers was a member of Fayetteville United Methodist Church. He was a U.S. Marine veteran of WWII and fought in the battle of Iwo Jima, a past commander of American Legion Post 149, and a Civilian Conservation Corps member. He was a retired electrician for the Fayette County Board of Education. He was a former partner with his cousins, Bob and Benny Akers, in Akers Electric Service in Fayetteville. Mr. Akers was an avid hunter and fisherman with a great story-telling ability. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Dorothy Baker and Camilla Akers; grandson, Nathan Anthony Mullins; and two brothers-in-law, Andy Baker and Lex Cowsert. Left with many wonderful memories and stories to cherish will be his wife of 65 years, Doris Wickline Akers of Fayetteville; three children: Peggy Mullins of Fayetteville, Mark Akers and wife, Jay, of Fayetteville, and Jane O'Leary and husband, Barry, of Beckley; three sisters: Connie Witt and husband, John, of Fayetteville, Patricia Cowsert of Indian Head Beach, FL, and Kay Phillips and husband, Joe, of Fayetteville; brother: Michael Akers and wife, Betty, of Gwinn, MI; five grandchildren: Lee Ann Pittman, Clayton and Emily Akers, Destiny (Richie) Spearen and Isaiah (Sara) Brubaker; great-grandchildren: Sam and Emma Pittman, Maddie Pritt, Willie and Tucker Spearen, and Anthony Brubaker; and a host of other family and friends. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, August 16, 2011, at Fayetteville United Methodist Church with Rev. Clare Sulgit-Horn officiating. Burial will follow at Huse Memorial Park, Fayetteville, with military rites conducted by American Legion Post 149. on August 15, 2011.4

     Constance Ann "Connie" Akers was buried at Huse Memorial Park, Fayetteville, Fayette Co., West Virginia.5 She was born on August 26, 1927 at Kaymoor, Fayette Co., West Virginia.5,6 As of May 25, 1946,her married name was Witt.3 She married John Lawrence Witt Jr. on May 25, 1946 at Oak Hill, Fayette Co., West Virginia.3,4,8 Constance Ann "Connie" Akers died on November 19, 2015 at Ansted, Fayette Co., West Virginia, at age 88.5 She FAYETTEVILLE – Constance Ann Akers Witt, 88, passed away Thursday, Nov. 19, 2015, at the Ansted Center at Ansted. Born Aug. 26, 1927, at Kaymoor, she was the daughter of the late Other Lee Akers and Aldena Hoback Akers. A native West Virginian, Connie Witt married John in 1945. In 1949, Connie moved with John to Baltimore, Md. Upon returning to Fayetteville, she and John opened their own business, Radio-TV Clinic. After closing the business, Connie worked as an Office Manager for a medical group and was later an employee of the March of Dimes before retiring. After retiring, Connie was very active in volunteering as a tax specialist helping the elderly prepare their tax forms. Connie enjoyed the World War II reunions of John's Battalion and they traveled to reunions as well as hosted the reunions in West Virginia. Connie was a member of the Fayetteville United Methodist Church and a member of the Oak Hill 3 F's prayer club. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Dorothy Akers Baker and one brother, Mike Akers. Left to cherish her memory include her three children, Jon Gregory Witt and wife, Pat of Boothbay Harbor, Maine, Stephanie Lynn Koren and husband, Jon of Mineral, Va., and Paul A. Witt of Fayetteville; two sisters, Patsy Akers Cowsert of Indian Harbour Beach, Fla., and Kay Akers Phillips, of Fayetteville; eight grandchildren, Nicholas Witt, AJ Witt, Alana Sharp; Allyson Darling and her husband Mike, Lee Bellomy and his wife, Amanda; David Koren and his wife, Kelly; Jennifer Koren and Katie Koren; six great-grandchildren, Jackson and Julia Darling; Christopher and Caitlin Koren; McKaylee Allen; Skylar Witt; and a host of other family and friends. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to noon Saturday, Nov. 28, 2015, at the Fayetteville United Methodist Church. Funeral services will be at noon, Saturday, immediately following the viewing. The service will be officiated by Charlie Garvin and Rev. Clare J. Sulgit. Burial will be at Huse Memorial Park and Mausoleum, Fayetteville. on November 24, 2015.5

Mr. Akers was born on August 12, 1938 at Garten, W.Va., to the late Other Lee and Aldena (Hoback) Akers. He had lived in this area on and off since 1956 eventually settling in Gwinn in 1968. Mike entered the U.S. Air Force in 1956 and retired from the former K.I. Sawyer Air Force Base in 1995 as a Civil Servant. He was then employed with the Ketola Construction Company of Gwinn for 13 years. In his free time Mike enjoyed playing in both a cribbage and horseshoe league and loved spending time putzing at his camp. Loved by all who knew him, he was especially known for his sense of humor and the way he teased people. He was a life member of AMVETS and a Men's Auxiliary member of Gwinn VFW Post #5670. Survivors include his wife, Betty Akers whom he married on February 20, 1970 in Gwinn; a son, Michael (Mickey) Young of Dillon, Colo; five step-children, Vicki (Kevin) Merck of Minot N.D., Michael (Tammy) Mehus of Porterville, Calif., Max (LeAnn) Mehus of Minot, N.D., Kelly Mehus of Williston, N.D. and Mark Mehus of Minot, N.D; a special "daughter dear," Laurie VanDamme and her husband, Steve Govier of Gwinn; 10 grandchildren and four great grandchildren; three sisters, Patricia Cowsert of Florida, Connie (John) Witt and Kay (Joe) Phillips, both of West Virginia; also several nieces, nephews and very good friends. Preceding him in death besides his parents was a brother, Bill Akers; a sister, Dorothy Baker as well as an infant sister and his favorite lap warmer, Sammy the cat. on October 21, 2011.7
