Born on Aug. 28, 1926, Laura had a kind and cheerful spirit. She loved her family and friends and was happiest in their company. She was quick to smile, loved to laugh, enjoyed music, and the appeal of a good book was endless. Laura's compassion was evident, her welcoming personality true. Hers was the house where neighborhood kids and lifelong friends were drawn and a place where her family thrived. She was the center of her husband's devotion, and she enhanced the lives of all who knew her simply because she was Laura. She was preceded in death by her parents, Minnie and Lloyd D. Moore; and her infant son, Michael Eugene Foote. She is survived by her husband of nearly 67 years, Embree Eugene Foote, Pell City; their children, Pam Foote, Pell City; Kay (Wayne) Koswoski, Madison; Alan (Angela) Foote, Vestavia Hills; grandchildren, Joseph (Stephanie) Koswoski, Alex and Connor Foote; two great-grandchildren; sister, Jean Brodrick, Northport; aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews. Graveside service immediately following at Forest Hill Cemetery. The family expresses deepest appreciation to staff at Sunset Trace and Woodland Way at The Village at Cook Springs for their compassionate care, and to Justina Burk, who gave great comfort throughout her stay and in the final moments of Laura's life. on September 9, 2010.2

He developed a close kinship with his "buddies" at the Col. Robert L. Howard State Veterans Home, and he will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his wife, Laura Moore Foote; infant son; parents, William Talmage and Gussie Coupland Foote. He is survived by his children, Pam Foote of Pell City, Kay (Wayne) Koswoski of Madison and Alan (Angie) Foote of Birmingham; sister, Carrie Bruce of Gardendale; brothers, Howard (Virginia) Foote of Hoover and Bill (Terry) Foote of Alabaster; grandchildren, Joseph (Stephanie) Koswoski of Madison, Alex and Connor Foote of Birmingham; great-grandchildren, Finley and Tucker Koswoski of Madison; many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Tuesday, July 30, 2013 from 11 a.m.-noon at Ridout's Trussville Chapel. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, July 30, 2013 at 1 p.m. at Forest Hill Cemetery in Birmingham with the Rev. Barry Bruce officiating. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, John Bibb Ewers Jr; and three sisters, Marion Iris Ewers, Myrtle E. Bryant and Eleanor E. Woodson. Mr. Ewers is survived by two daughters, Anita White and her husband, Dean, of Madison Heights, and Yvonne Hartman and her husband, Gary, of Amherst; one brother, Donald H. Ewers and his wife, Margaret, of Madison Heights; three sisters, Edna E. Bomar of Lynchburg, Doris E. Lee and Marie E. Torrence, both of Madison Heights; five grandchildren, Dr. James W. White, Jeffrey T. White, Kristopher R. Whitehead, J. Brooke Lichford, and Jonathan T. Lautermilch; nine great-grandchildren, Lauren, Jaime, Susanna, Caroline, Ean, Hayden, Justin, Tanner and Spencer. A funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2007, at Whitten Monelison Chapel by the Rev. Jim Freeman. Interment with military honors by American Legion Post 16 will follow in Meade Cemetery, Madison Heights. on January 22, 2007.3

He is survived by his wife, of 49 years, Margaret Humphreys Ewers. There is a verse of scripture that describes Donald's life at this time. "Come unto me all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest." Born February 22, 1934, in Amherst County, he was a son of the late John Bibb Ewers and Edna Smith Ewers. Donald retired from B&W after 37 years of service and was a life long member of Sandy Bottom Christian Church. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, John Ewers and J.P. Ewers; and four sister, Myrtle Bryant, Edna Earle Bomar, Eleanor Woodson, and Marion Ewers. In addition to his wife, Donald is survived by a devoted son, Kevin Ewers and wife Anne, of Madison Heights. Kevin and his dad shared a love of baseball, and hunting, for which he will have many fond memories. For the past twelve years Donald's life has been made much happier by the love of his two grandchildren, Emily and Kylie Ewers. They were known as "Poppies' Girls", and there was nothing he wouldn't do for them. Donald is also survived by two sisters, Marie Torrence, and Doris Lee, both of Madison Heights.
