Tuesday afternoon, February 2, 2016. She was the widow of Aubrey Eugene Lee to whom she was married for twenty four years. Born in Madison Heights on October 1, 1928, she was a daughter of John Bibb Ewers, Sr. and Edna Lucy Smith Ewers. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by siblings John Bibb Ewers, Jr, Myrtle Elizabeth Ewers Bryant, James Pinkerton Ewers, Edna Earle Ewers Bomar, Marion Iris Ewers, Eleanor Frances Ewers Humphrey, and Donald Harris Ewers. She is survived by her sister Marie Younger Ewers Torrence of Lynchburg and her sisters-in-law Margaret Humphrey Ewers, Hope Lee Lang, Fayetta Lee, and Martha Lee of Madison Heights. Doris was the mother of three sons, Michael Eugene Lee and Adelaide of Lynchburg, Randall Ewers Lee of Madison Heights, and Eric Todd Lee and Jennifer of Evington. She is also survived by six grandchildren, Michelle Evette Lee, Daniel Aubrey Lee, John Draper Lee, Adelaide Elizabeth Lee, Adam Todd Lee, and Alaina Claire Lee. She is also survived by two great grandchildren, Dylan Evan Lee and Lauren McKenzie Hall as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Doris will also be especially missed by her nephew and his wife, Wyndol and Phyllis Ewers of Madison Heights and her very special friend, Brenda Miles of Lynchburg. Doris’ life centered around her family and her church. She was a lifelong member of Sandy Bottom Christian Church where she taught Sunday School, participated in social organizations, and worked with youth groups for many years.
