Wallace Francis Ogden was buried at Elwood Cemetery, Texas Ridge Road, Latah Co., Idaho.2,1 He was born on March 4, 1932 at Deary, Latah Co., Idaho.2,1 He died on November 6, 2015 at Idaho at age 83.2,1 He Wallace Frances Ogden was born in Deary, Idaho, on March 4, 1932, to Sylvia and Raymond Ogden. He passed away peacefully with his beloved sister, Donna Rae, by his side at Good Samaritan on Friday, Nov. 6, 2015. As a young boy he loved to explore the area around the family home on Texas Ridge. One time, at the age of 3, at his cousin Beatrice's house, he was chasing a dog when he fell head first into a well. Fortunately, his mother sensed something was wrong and went looking for him. Thankfully she got there just in time to save his life. You could have called him a true Palouse boy since the family lived (at one time or another) in most of the towns in the area: Deary, Bovill, Princeton, Onaway, Potlatch, Palouse and Moscow, with the only exception being a year in Bremerton, Wash., when he was 9. His adventures continued while serving in the Navy during the Korean war from 1951 to 1955. His ship visited ports in Italy, France, Puerto Rico and Cuba. After his time of service he worked for a short time at the Potlatch Mill, and then for 35 years as a custodial worker at the University of Idaho. He loved to listen to old-time gospel music. He loved to tell stories of the past and was equally interested in the ones you told to him. He read any Western novel he could get his hands on (his favorites were Louis L'Amour's). His handshake was as firm as they come, but his spirit was as gentle as they come. Though he never married nor had children, he loved his family dearly, including his nieces, Diana (Roth) Sadowsky and Sandra (Roth) Fife. With phone calls and letter exchanges he kept in contact with his many cousins and, on a few occasions, traveled outside of the state to visit some of them in Leroy, Ill; Newburg, Ore., and Vancouver, B.C. He is preceded in death by his father; mother; younger sister, Fern (Ogden) Roth; and brother in law, Joseph Roth. He is survived by his older sister, Donna Rae; nieces, Diana (husband Chris) and Sandra (husband David); three great-nieces; three great-nephews; two great-great nieces and two great-great nephews. We are glad he is in heaven. Thanks to his lord, Jesus Christ, he is reunited with his family, standing tall and sharing stories. A graveside service will follow at Texas Ridge Cemetery. on November 9, 2015.2
