He worked for Donnkenny Inc. for twenty years as a credit and accounts receivable manager and shipping manager, he also farmed part-time most of his life. He became a Christian in October 1943 in Church of Brethren and entered Christian Ministry in 1971 and was Ordained in the Church of Brethren and served as Pastor of Smith Chapel, West Virginia, Red Oak and Stonewall Church. He served six years on District Board in Ministry and Finance comm., served nine years on Small Membership Cong comm., visited many churches and encouraged them, touched hundreds of lives and he helped lead many to Christ and Baptized them, conducted many funerals, anointing services and weddings, also made thousands of visits in homes, hospitals and nursing homes and conducted many revivals services in three different states. Funeral Services will be held at Gardner Funeral Home on Saturday September 8, 2018 at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Elbert Lee Naff Jr. and the Rev. Robin Naff Officiating with entombment in the Mausoleum at Roselawn in Christiansburg. on September 6, 2018.4

Dewey is survived by his daughter, Kim Mineroldi and son-in-law, Todd, grandson, Zach; son, Bill Gearhart and daughter-in-law, Carolyn, grandson, Curtis, and granddaughter, Sarah; daughter, Pam Tate and son-in-law, Steve, and granddaughters, Lauren and Ashley. Dewey was a graduate of Emanuel College and further studied at Roanoke College. He spent some early years on the Salem Rescue Squad. He owned and operated Gearhart's Shoe Repair, started by his grandfather in 1918, until closing the business in 1994. A 76 year old tradition in downtown Salem. Dewey was a longtime member of Bethel Baptist Church, Deacon and Director of the Sunday School Department and Sunday School Teacher. He was also an avid fisherman, enjoyed following UVA sports and loved cheering for his grandson on the baseball field. Special thanks to Dr. James Bergen at UVA, Dr. William Fintel, Dr. Tabassum Subuhi and Associates, staff of Lewis Gale Medical Center and staff of The Pines Apartments. A Memorial Service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, February 11, 2012, at the Bethel Baptist Church with Pastor Hilton Jeffries officiating. Interment will be private. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, February 10, 2012, at Lotz Funeral Home Salem. on February 10, 2012.4

Barbara was born on September 30, 1938, and was preceded in death by her parents, Jessie and Lollas (Potter) Foster. Barbara graduated from Emanuel College and furthered her studies in early childhood education at the University of Virginia. Her life was dedicated to the education and care of children, as evidenced by her position as Charter Teacher of Special Education in Roanoke County in 1967, the underpinning of the Kangaroo Pouch Daycare in 1980, for a total of 40 years devoted to the enrichment of the lives of children. Barbara is survived by her soul mate and spouse of 49 years, Dewey; daughter, Kim and her husband, Todd Mineroldi; and only grandchild, Zach Mineroldi. Also surviving is Frieda Potter, her aunt and special friend. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. on Monday, April 12, 2010, at Bethel Baptist Church in Salem with Pastors Hilton Jeffries and Ivey Adams officiating. Interment will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at Lotz Funeral Home in Salem from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, April 11, 2010. The family offers special thanks to Doctors Subuhi and Raza, the Case Management staff of Lewis Gale Medical Center, and the extraordinary caregivers of Unit 4 of Salem Health and Rehabilitation Center. on April 9, 2010.3
