Police identified him as Dwayne Lee Walters, 24, of 12401 Beach Road in Chesterfield County. Police initially thought Walters died from injuries he suffered in a 1:21 a.m. accident in the 1100 block of North Lombardy Street. Walters' car, a 1966 two-door Chevrolet, apparently had struck a light pole and a no-parking sign while southbound near Moore Street. A patrolman heard a crash and found the damaged pole but not the car. Around 3 a.m., a police officer discovered Walters' car in a parking lot more than 300 feet from the crash site. It wasn't until the body was examined by the state medical examiner's office that it was determined Walters had been fatally shot in the left side of the head. Police said he may have been shot before his car crashed, though they said the details were not known. Police also said the kind of firearm used had not been determined. They said that robbery did not appear to be a motive and that apparently no one else was in the car at the time. on May 1, 1984.⁷ He Dwayne Lee Walters of Richmond, died Monday, April 30, 1984. Barbara worked for many years as a Registered Nurse at Roanoke Memorial Hospital. She was a Charter Member of St. Philip Lutheran Church. Surviving are her daughters, Tina (Paul) Hatcher, Lisa (Andy) Ward Greer; grandchildren, Tadd (Courtney) Hatcher, Trey (Ellen) Hatcher, and Lauren N. (Tony) Handy; brother, Allen Gray (Carolyn) Hensley; nephews and niece, Michael Hensley, Robin Graves, Christopher Hensley; and her significant other of 37 years, Larry Payne. Also surviving is Barbara’s first great-grandchild who is expected to arrive in the next few weeks. She was born in Jefferson County, West Virginia & lived a fruitful life. She passed away at home with her family. She is survived by husband, Frank Spagnolo; son, Hugh O. DeWeese; twin daughters, Karla Kaye Finochio & Debra Kaye Cejka; along with 8 grandchildren & 10 great-grandchildren; and her brother, Raymond B. Turner. on April 18, 2004.⁴
