Mr. Custer worked for Truck Enterprises Inc. in Harrisonburg. He was born Sept. 28, 1925, in Floyd County and was the son of the late Claude Clarence and Martha Belle Custer. Mr. Custer served in the Army during World War II and was a member of Memorial Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife, Betty Mattox Custer; a daughter, Sharon Custer Love of Waynesboro; a brother, Lewis D. Custer of Wilsons; five sisters, Theresa C. Smith of Roanoke, Mary C. Schilling of North Port, Fla., Gloriadean C. Lancaster of Bent Mount and Lethia C. Manning of Roanoke; a grandson; and two step-granddaughters. The funeral will be conducted 11 a.m. Tuesday at Memorial Baptist Church by the Rev. Temple D. Myers. A graveside service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens in Roanoke. Friends may call at the Hamrick Funeral Home 7:30-8:30 p.m. today or at the Lotts Funeral Home, 1001 Franklin Road, Roanoke, 7-9 p.m. Tuesday. The family said memorial contributions may be made to the Staunton-West Augusta Heart Fund, Box 2614, Staunton, 24401. on December 10, 1984.2

Jack Prillaman and wife, Ruby, of Vinton; one sister, Irene P. Steppe of Lynchburg; and a sister-in-law, Ellen B. Prillaman of Rocky Mount; and many nieces and nephews; and a special neighbor, Era K. Furrow of Callaway. She worked as a clerk in the Callaway stores for forty years and was a life-long member of the Piedmont Presbyterian Church. Funeral service will be 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Piedmont Presbyterian Church by the Reverend David McCarty with interment at the Prillaman Family Cemetery in Callaway. Family will receive friends at the Flora Funeral Home, 6 to 8 p.m., Saturday. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Piedmont Presbyterian Church. He was retired from Brad Ragan Tire and was a greeter for Wal-Mart in Bonsack for many years and was a member of Campbell Memorial Presbyterian Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry C. and Eliza Howery Prillaman; his eight sisters; his five brothers; and his devoted wife of 69 years, Ruby Akers Prillaman. Jack is survived by his son, H. Alfred "Al" Prillaman and wife, Nancy; his daughter, Rita P. Vaught, all of Vinton; his grandchildren, Brian Prillaman and wife, Nicole, Pamela Vaught, and Melissa Vaught Okes and husband, Andrew; and his great-grandson, Landon Okes. A service celebrating Jack's life will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 4, 2013, at Campbell Memorial Presbyterian Church with Pastor Jamie Smith officiating. Interment will be held in Mountain View Cemetery, Vinton with Military Honors. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 3, 2013, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Oakey's Vinton Chapel. on April 2, 2013.3

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today, June 25, 2008, and again from 11 a.m. until noon, Thursday, June 26, 2008, both days at Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg. A funeral service will be conducted at noon, Thursday, in the chapel of Tharp Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Fort Hill Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, we ask that memorial contributions be made to West Lynchburg Baptist Church, 3031 Memorial Ave., Lynchburg, Virginia. She is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, Wilbur Lee Wrenn; two daughters, Dreama Zevgolis Nuttycombe and husband John of Richmond and Sandra Wrenn Floyd and husband James of Prince George, two grandchildren, Nicole Zevgolis Colacone and husband John of Hopewell and Billy Zevgolis and wife Shari of Myrtle Beach, S.C; two great grandchildren, Liam and Davey Zevgolis of Myrtle Beach; devoted sister, Marion Dunbar of Hopewell; niece Beverly Dunbar Herbert and husband Buck of Chesterfield; nephew Robert Dunbar and wife Cheryl of Midlothian; seven step grandchildren, Terri Bondurant and husband Thomas, Kristin Downer and husband Alan, Tammy Castello and husband David, Kimberly Synder and husband Keith and Johnny Nuttycombe III all of Richmond, Staci Floyd Porter and husband Jeff, Todd Floyd and wife Kelli, all of Jacksonville, Ala; 15 step great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Survivors include her son, Gil David Groat of Newport News; three sisters, Marion Dunbar, Letha Wrenn and Lois O'Connell, all of Hopewell; and many nieces and nephews. She will be greatly missed by her family and many friends. The family received friends Sunday from 7 to 8 p.m. at Peninsula Funeral Home. A service will be conducted by the Rev. Micki Vanderbilt and Father Peter Tran, at 3:30 p.m. today at Hidenwood Presbyterian Church. Burial will follow in Peninsula Memorial Park. Arrangements by Peninsula Funeral Home. on October 4, 1999.3

Clower and wife Deborah Shepherd Clower; daughter-in-law, Joyce Bledsoe Clower; two granddaughters, Kristina Clower and Kaitlin Clower; and one great-granddaughter, Hayley Sarver. She is also survived by James E. and Connie Martin, Vernon and Sandra Martin, Lena and Archie McAlexander, Ocie and Dalton Thompson, Jane Ernestine Nichols, Donna King, Stanley and Carol Clower, Opaldine and Donald Gearheart, and family and friends too numerous to mention. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Riner Fire Department, PO Box 11, Riner, VA 24149 or to the Riner Rescue Squad, PO Box 858, Riner, VA 24149. The family will receive friends on Monday, July 25, 2011 from 5 until 8 p.m. at Horne Funeral Home.
