He also established the Community Thanksgiving Dinner. He also secured grant money for the GRG-Grandparents Raising Children program. He loved dressing up at Christmas time and playing Santa Claus. He enjoyed collecting nautical and martial arts memorabilia. His major accomplishment was teaching and impacting the lives of those he touched. His favorite saying was “I am just me, Not a lot...just me.” Survivors include his father and stepmother, Robert and Hilga Poff of Huntsville, Ala; two sisters, Nancee Duke and husband, Gary, of Johnston City, Lonnette “Lonnie” Lindsey of Johnston City; stepbrother, Stephen Stamps of Paris, Tenn; nephew, Chris Duke of Johnston City; two nieces, Wendy Smith of Belleville, Elizabeth Lindsey of West Frankfort; two great-nephews, Thomas Duke of West Frankfort, Randy Gore of Arab, Ala; four great-nieces, Brenna Duke of West Frankfort, Avery and Campbell Smith of Belleville, Jessica Gore of Arab, Ala; two cousins, Paul Gore Jr. of Arab, Ala., Debbie Gore of Huntsville, Ala; uncle and aunt, Paul and Joyce Gore of Arab, Ala. She was a former employee of American Viscose Corp. with 33 years service. Pearl was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbur A. Dudding; and her grandson, Jason E. Meyers. Surviving are her daughters, Gail D. Wood of Boonville, N.C., Cindy D. Meyers of Phoenix, Az; her grandchildren, Mark Wood of Winston-Salem, N.C., Chad Meyers, Marilyn Phillips, Gail Smith, all of Phoenix, Az; five great-grandchildren; seven stepgreat-grandchildren; her sister, Rachel Jordan of Roanoke County; several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at Red Hill Church of the Brethren, Friday, February 11, 2 p.m. with the Rev. Dr. Ernie Deyerle and the Rev. Tony Emmons officiating. Interment will follow in the Amos Family Cemetery, Roanoke County. The family will receive friends Thursday, 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Oakey's South Chapel. on February 9, 2005.1
