Williams, pastor of First Methodist Church, and Dr. Cecil B. Cook of First Baptist Church. Mrs. Yates was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Davis, of Richmond, where she spent most of her life, although at intervals she had lived in Atlanta and Des Moines. The family moved here last June. Besides her husband, Mrs. Yates leaves five children - Miss Mary and Howard, Helen, Elizabeth and Theodore. She is also survived by her parents and one sister, Mrs. H. D. Carrier, of Richmond. on February 21, 1916.4

He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Lyons Yates, in 1995. He is survived by a son, Richard N. Yates of Newark; a daughter, Helen Y. Heron of Lititz, Pa; four grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Service and burial will be private. Instead of flowers, contributions may be made to All Saints Episcopal Church, 18 Olive Avenue, Rehoboth Beach, DE 19971. Arrangements by Parsell Funeral Homes, Lewes. on May 24, 2001.7

He was 83 and lived in Ballwin. Mr. Yates was a chemical engineer for 35 years at Monsanto before he retired in 1981. During his career, he worked on special projects in England and Spain. Mr. Yates was born and reared in Lynchburg, Va. He earned his bachelor's and master's degrees, both in chemical engineering, from Virginia Technical Institute in Blacksburg, Va. He worked toward a doctorate at Washington University. He served in the Army Air Forces in World War II, attaining the rank of major. From 1990 to 1995, he volunteered with the United Way of Greater St. Louis. He also was active for many years at the American Legion Post 611 in Ballwin. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Schrader Funeral Home, 14960 Manchester Road, Ballwin, with a military service at 11 a.m. The funeral service will be at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery. Among the survivors are his wife of 60 years, Dorothy Snyder Yates; two daughters, Margaret Charleville of St. Louis and Dorothy Poehler of Chesterfield; two sons, Robert Yates Jr. of Ridgefield, Conn., and Richard Yates of Seattle; a brother, Richard Yates of Rehobeth Beach, Del; 12 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Memorial contributions may be made to the Parkinson's Disease Information and Referral Center at Washington University, 660 South Euclid Avenue, Box 8111, St. Louis, Mo. 63110; or to Support Dogs Inc., 10755 Indianhead Industrial Boulevard, St. Louis, Mo. 63132. on April 10, 1998.2

Mrs. Forrest was born October 12, 1901, in Stuart, Va., the daughter of the late Tom and Nannie Frazier Yeattes. She was a graduate of Greensboro Senior High School, attended Greensboro College, and was a graduate of High Point College. She taught school in Stokes, Forsyth, Guilford and Davidson Counties for many years. She was a very active worker in the Downtown Church Center in Winston-Salem. Mrs. Forrest was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn Alwyn Forrest, in 1957. Surviving are nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. The family requests that memorials be made to the Winston-Salem Downtown Church Center, 502 N. Broad Street, Augsburg Community Center, Winston-Salem, N.C. 27101. on June 24, 1997.3
