     Freddie Lee Minton was born on October 21, 1948 at Smyth Co., Virginia.^1,3 He married Jenny Lou Weddle, daughter of Buster Weddle and Vonice Kathline Poff, on February 28, 1986 at Roanoke, Virginia.¹ Freddie Lee Minton died on March 30, 2019 at Virginia at age 70.² He Freddie Lee Minton, 70, of Roanoke, Va., passed away on Saturday, March 30, 2019. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harley Minton and Effie J. Minton; a daughter, Khera Carroll; granddaughters, Ashlynn Ann Cooper and Autumn Ann Cooper; and a brother, Richard Minton. Freddie served in the United States Army as an Airborne Ranger with the 173rd Airborne Brigade in Vietnam where he earned two Purple Hearts and a Bronze Star with a "V" for Valor. After his years in service, Freddie went to work for and subsequently retired from the U.S. Postal Service. Following his retirement, he went to work for Daimler/Chrysler in Detroit, Mich., before retiring for a second time. Other than his family, Freddie's next greatest loves were playing golf and watching Notre Dame Football. Freddie is survived by his wife of 34 years, Jenny Minton; a daughter, Jill Jeter (Richie); a son, Brett Weddle (Tosha); and four grandsons, Bryce Cooper, Carson Cooper, Sam Weddle and Jack Weddle. He is also survived by two brothers, Ben Minton (Leianna) and Pete Minton (Diana); much loved family friend, Dave Smith; and much-loved nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
