She married Bill and taught for a while in Henrico County while he began his career as a CPA in Richmond. When Bill relocated to Roanoke and their sons were born, Bunny became a fulltime homemaker, wife, and mom, creating a home that was a favorite gathering place for the boys and their friends. After they left home, Bunny went back to school at National College where she eventually launched her final career as an admissions counselor. Bunny continued to volunteer as an adult 4-H leader and with the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation of Roanoke Valley where she learned the importance of organ transplantation to those with chronic diseases. When her son Matt was stricken with a fatal brain aneurism at the age of 23, she and his father agreed to donate his organs and tissue through the Virginia Organ Procurement Agency. Matt became the largest donor in Virginia at that time, and Bunny found solace in becoming an enthusiastic spokesperson for VOPA throughout the state. In 2015 she moved to Maryville, Tennessee to be near her sister Vandy. For the last few years Bunny struggled with increasing dementia until her death.
