     Bertha Loretta Boggs was buried at Sunset Memorial Park, Beckley, Raleigh Co., West Virginia.1 She was born on March 23, 1942 at Cabin Creek, Kanawha Co., West Virginia.1 As of September 3, 1961,her married name was DeWese.2 She married Douglas Eugene "Doug" DeWese, son of Clyde Tocoma DeWese and Elmira F. "Ella" "Nell" Lester, on September 3, 1961 at Ikes Fork, Wyoming Co., West Virginia.1,2 Bertha Loretta Boggs died on April 9, 2007 at Beckley, Raleigh Co., West Virginia, at age 65.1 She On Monday, April 9, 2007, Loretta Boggs Dewese of Old Eccles Road, Beckley, passed away in a Beckley hospital following a long illness. She was 65 years of age. Loretta was born March 23, 1942, at Cabin Creek; she was one of six children born to the late Virgil and Goldie Lee Hammond Boggs. Loretta spent her childhood at Milton. She was of the Baptist faith. A longtime resident of Wyoming County, she had resided in Hanover and Ikes Fork, where she helped run the family business, Dewese Market. After the death of her beloved husband, Douglas Dewese, Loretta settled on Old Eccles Road in 1997. She relished in her role as a devoted mother, grandmother and sister to her family. Her family and friends will cherish her memory forever. In addition to her parents and Douglas, she was recently preceded in death by a dear and loving friend, Cecil Cline. Loretta was the beloved mother of two sons and a daughter, Shawn Dewese and his wife, Lois, of Beckley, Melissa Wilson and her husband, Jim, of Charlotte, N.C., and Dr. Christopher Dewese and his wife, Tatia, of Teays Valley; the loving grandmother of seven grandchildren, Branson and Carson Dewese of Beckley, Ellie and Elizabeth Wilson of Charlotte, Dru Stanley, Peyton and Max Dewese, all of Teays Valley; the dear sister of David Boggs and Faye Childress of Milton, Dorothy Compton and Carolyn McGhee of Charleston, and Hattie Mynes of Winfield; several nieces and nephews and a host of friends. The family would like to give a special thanks to Carolyn Francis, Betsy Britland, Libby Kelly, Dr. Oar, and Dr. Pitsenbarger, Dr. Nazar and the second-floor staff of Raleigh General Hospital for all their kindness and compassion. Service will be 1 p.m. Friday at Melton Mortuary Chapel, Beckley, with the Rev. Garry Hall officiating. Entombment will follow in the Sunset Memorial Park Mausoleum, Beckley. Friends may call 6 to 9 p.m. today at the mortuary and one hour before service Friday. Pallbearers will be Bill McGhee, Steve Dewese, Charlie and O.G. Cline, Steve ?Beetle? Bailey, Dean Lee, J.R. Hanshaw, Jim Legato, Bill Meadows and Rob Hogan. on April 12, 2007.1

Born May 14, 1929, in Hinton, she was the daughter of the late James H. and Blanche Juanita Anderson Bragg. Ms. Davis was a former telephone operator in the business office in Hinton and was retired from the Sanitary Department for the City of Hinton. She was a 1947 graduate of Hinton High School and was a member of the Hinton Business & Professional Women’s Club and the Bowling Club. She was also a member of Hinton United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis Davis. Survivors include several cousins. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 29, 2011, at Pivont Funeral Home Chapel in Hinton with Rev. Rick Duncan officiating. Burial will be in Greenbrier Burial Park in Hinton. Friends may call from 12 p.m. until 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. on May 27, 2011.1

Born in Summers County, March 10, 1892, he was a son of the late William H.P. and Mary Young Bennett. He had lived all his life in Raleigh and Summers counties. Bennett had lived at Beaver for six years. Survivors include five brothers, Frank, Lake and Gus, all of the Madams Creek area, James of Beaver and Jeff Bennett of Princeton; three sisters, Mrs. Bessie Lowe of Beaver, Mrs. John Bower of Jumping Branch and Mrs. Earl Waddell of St.Albans; and one grandson. The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday in the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors with the Rev. Shirley Donnelly in charge. Burial will be in the family cemetery on Madams Creek. Members of the Beaver Veterans of Foreign Wars will serve as pallbearers, and the Hinton National Guard Unit will be in charge of graveside rites. Born in Raleigh county August 19, 1925, she had spent most of her life in Summers county, and for the past five years had resided in Hinton. She was a member of the First Baptist church here. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her father, Boude Bennett of Madams Creek, and an infant son, Donald Harold Smith. on September 13, 1948.4

"Sam" Glass was born on January 1, 1888 at Summers Co., West Virginia.1,2,3,6,4,5 He and Mable Unknown were divorced before April 5, 1930.8 Samuel H. B. "Sam" Glass died on December 28, 1934 at Hinton, Summers Co., West Virginia, at age 46.6,4,5 He Sam B. Glass, aged 47 years, died Friday morning, Dec. 28, 1934, at 11:30 o'clock at the home of his sister, Mrs. D. W. Fry, of Cross street, following a nine weeks illness. His passing was due to a stroke of paralysis which Mr. Glass suffered at the inception of his fatal illness. For several years, however, he had been in a bad state of health. Mr. Glass was born January 1, 1888, was a son of the late J. Henry Glass and wife, long well known residents of Hinton. He resided in Hinton the major part of his life, and besides his loved ones, leaves a great many friends. Mr. Glass was a member of the First Baptist church. For a number of years he had been engaged in the plumbing business here. Mr. Glass is survived by two sisters, Mrs. D. W. Fry and Mrs. H. W. Bird; also a brother, H. F. Glass, all of this city. Burial was made in Hill Top cemetery. on January 3, 1935.4
