Violet was born in Orlando, FL and has been a resident of Port St. Lucie for the past 43 years coming from Orlando, FL. Prior to retirement Violet was the owner and developer of Village Marina of Fort Pierce. Violet was also a member of Riverview Baptist Church of Fort Pierce. She enjoyed fishing, bowling and gardening. Survivors include sons Wesley Taylor and wife Karen of Fort Pierce, FL, grandchildren Lindsey McLam and husband Scott, Charley Pratt and wife Becky, Jennifer Ritchie and husband Andy, Allison Walters and husband Eddie and eight great grandchildren. Violet was preceded in death by her husbands Everett Taylor and Henry Willhoite. A visitation will be held from 11:00am – 12:30pm with a funeral service at 12:30pm on Monday October 13, 2014 at Aycock Funeral Home, Fort Pierce FL. She was the wife Of the late William Aidan Rote. Mrs. Rote was a native Of Watertown And summered In Gloucester. She graduated from Watertown public schools And from the Katharine Gibbs School. She worked with the war production board And In the Frances Guidrey stationery business before her marriage. She devoted her life to her family And home. Her volunteer work included Florence Crittenton League, Glover Memorial Hospital And serving as a "Doric Dame" tour guide at the Massachusetts Statehouse. She enjoyed tennis, gardening, travel And spending time with friends. Surviving are a daughter, Ann "Nancy" Chatham Rote Of Lincoln; a son, William Aidan Rote Jr. Of Northboro; three sisters, Frances Hayes Of Rockville, Md., Katherine Headrick Of Freeland, Wash., And Virginia Lowe Of Everett, Wash; two brothers, Joseph J. Guidrey Of Silver Spring, Md., And Philip R. Guidrey Of Osterville; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; And 16 nieces And nephews. She was also the mother Of the late Richard G. Rote. A funeral will be held at 1:30 p.m. tomorrow at John-Lawrence Funeral Home, 3778 Falmouth Road (Route 28), Marstons Mills, followed by burial In Mosswood Cemetery, Cotuit. Memorial donations may be made to the Cotuit Library, Main Street, Cotuit, MA 02653; or to the library of one's choice. on March 22, 2002.2
