Mr. Hord had served in the United States Coast Guard and was the former co-owner of Hord & Allen Plumbing and Heating Company in Chesapeake. Besides his father, he is survived by his wife, Victoria Hord; three daughters, Sherry Middlebrooks and husband Don of Chesapeake, Lisa Patton and husband Jack of Virginia Beach and Sandra Peters and husband Dan of Suffolk; his son, Ronnie Hord and wife Janet; stepson, Derek Uphold and wife Stephanie, all of Chesapeake; and eight grandchildren, Megan, Kyle, Mennen, Camden, Katie, Jack, Bryce and Tori. A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at Chesapeake Memorial Gardens, 524 Cedar Road, Chesapeake, by Brother Bob Costen. on April 16, 2004.⁴

He served with the U.S. Marine Corps from 1967 to 1969. Survivors are Richard Yopp and his wife, Donna; Marvin Yopp and his wife, Virginia; Virginia Smith; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. Tommy was well known and loved in the Tidewater area by all who knew him. He will be missed by many friends. He always had a smile on his face and was there for anyone who needed his help or just someone to listen. He lived a good life and was carefree. Many thanks to all his friends from the Beach Pub, Jewish Mother and everyone else for all the contributions to make it possible to let him rest in peace. on August 21, 1999.⁷

Kevin was born in Norfolk to the late George "Sonny" and Odessa Mapes. Kevin "Cheese" was an avid CB Radio operator. Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 11 years, Robin Mapes; children, Shelby Denton (Donte), Justin Mapes (Emily), Allen Mapes (Courtney), and Cameron Watts; siblings, Shirley Mapes, Connie Dale (Glenn) and Bill Mapes (Peggy); grandchildren, Aniya, Jayla, Brenna, and Jeremiah; nieces, Tammy Jones and Jennifer Settar; great nephews, Preston, Cody, Chase and Reese; and his k-9 companion, Lucky.
