Meinhardt Franz August Raabe was born in the town of Farmington on Sept. 2, 1915, son of Henry H. and Eleonora Mina (Rummler) Raabe. He was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Farmington and remained in contact with the church and the community all of his life. Meinhardt graduated from the eighth grade at Maple View School, a neighborhood, one-room schoolhouse. He was a graduate of Johnson Creek High School and attended the former Northwestern College in Watertown for three years. He then transferred to the University of Wisconsin-Madison and graduated with a degree in accounting in 1937. While seeking higher education, summers were spent at world fairs and expositions to earn tuition money for the next school year. Meinhardt went on to receive an M.B.A. from Drexel University in Philadelphia in 1970. In June 1937, he began working for the Oscar Mayer Company in accounting and then as “Little Oscar,” promoting their products. Then in November 1938, Meinhardt took a leave of absence to film “The Wizard of Oz” and was cast as the Munchkin Coroner. He then returned to the Oscar Mayer Company and continued his career, billed as the World's Smallest Chef, traveling with the Weinermobile promoting Oscar Mayer products. He worked a combined 30 years for the company. Meinhardt received his private pilot license in 1944 and joined the Civil Air Patrol in 1945 as a ground instructor, teaching navigation and meteorology. He had also taught school in Delaware, Pa., and worked in various capacities for other food brokerage firms as well. Meinhardt married the former Marie Hartline on Dec. 15, 1946, in Akron, Ohio. She preceded him in death on Oct. 22, 1997. As “The Wizard of Oz” gained popularity, so did Meinhardt and the other remaining Munchkins. He appeared at Wizard of Oz Festivals throughout the country and was present when the Munchkins were honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Meinhardt co-authored a book, “Memories of a Munchkin” with Lt. Daniel Kinske, USN. He was a member of Little People of America. He is survived by a sister, Marion Ziegelmann of Watertown; other relatives and friends. Meinhardt was also preceded in death by his parents. Hafemeister Funeral Home 611 E. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Sept. 7 at 10:30 a.m. at Adams-Mason Memorial Chapel, 791 E. Market St., Ak ron, where friends may call Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. Con ducting services will be Rev. G. Rod Taylor. Burial will be at Hillside Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Visiting Nurse Service Hospice Care Center or the American Cancer Society. on September 5, 2004.1

     Billie Jo Huffman Billie Jo Templeton, 70, of St. Albans passed away Saturday, June 16, 2007, in Hubbard Hospice House. She was preceded in death by her parents, James Otho and Mary Jane Jenkins Huffman. She was a member of St. Luke United Methodist Church for over 55 years, where she played the piano and organ for the youth. She was also a member of Order of Eastern Star, where she served as past Mother Advisor Order of Rainbow for Girls, Shadyside, Ohio. She was a loving and dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend who will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She is survived by Orville, her husband of 52 years; daughters, Jane O. Miller of Charleston, Casi S. Fields and husband, Jeffrey, of Catlettsburg, Ky; granddaughter, Cary Jo Miller; great-grandchildren, Nathan Christopher and Karli Danielle Miller, all of St. Albans; sisters, Mary Jane Cundiff of Leewood, Kay Karr of Winfield, and Roben Sue Parsons and husband, Gene, of Florida; brother, James O. Huffman II, and wife, Linda, of St. Albans; brother-in-law, William Templeton and wife, Jean, of Mill Creek; several nieces and nephews; and her family pet, Buffy. Service will be 11 a.m. Thursday, June 21, at Casdorph & Curry Funeral Home with the Rev. Paul Baldwin officiating. Entombment will follow in Cunningham Memorial Park, St. Albans. A gathering of family and friends will be Wednesday from 6 to 8 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hubbard Hospice House, 1001 Kennawa Drive, Charleston, WV 25311.3 She was buried at Cunningham Memorial Park, St. Albans, Kanawha Co., West Virginia.3 She was born on November 7, 1936 at West Virginia.2,5 As of circa 1955,her married name was Templeton.3 She married Orville A. Templeton died on December 31, 2012 at South Charleston, Kanawha Co., West Virginia, at age 76.3,2 He Orville A. Templeton, 76, of St. Albans, passed away December 31, 2012, at Hubbard Hospice House West, South Charleston, after a long illness. He was born October 21, 1936, in Kanawha County. He was married to his high school sweetheart, Billie Jo Huffman, for 52 years. She preceded him in death. Left to mourn his memories are daughters, Jane O. Miller of South Charleston and Casi Fields of Boyd County, Ky; one granddaughter, Cary Jo Miller of St. Albans; and three great-grandchildren, Nathan Miller, Karli Miller and Evan LeTart. Orville was retired from Quality Carriers and was an active member of St. Luke United Methodist Church of St. Albans. He was a member of Shadyside Masonic Lodge in Shadyside, Ohio. He graduated with the class of 1955 at St. Albans High School. He was greatly loved and will be sorely missed. A celebration of Orville's life will be 2 p.m., Sunday, January 6, at St. Luke United Methodist Church, 702 Hansford St., St. Albans, with Pastor Richie McNiel officiating. Burial will follow in Cunningham Memorial Park, St. Albans. A gathering of family and friends will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Casdorph & Curry Funeral Home, 110 B St., St. Albans. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to St. Luke United Methodist Church, 702 Hansford St., St. Albans, WV 25177. on January 4, 2013.2
