Sandra Sarver was born on October 15, 1941 at West Virginia.2,3 As of December 28, 1972,her married name was Ridinger.3 She married William Nelson Ridinger, son of Harvey Jackson Ridinger and Hester Blanche Jennings, on December 28, 1972 at Christiansburg, Montgomery Co., Virginia.1,2,3 Sandra Sarver died on November 19, 2023 at Christiansburg, Montgomery Co., Virginia, at age 82.2 She Sandra S. Ridinger, October 15, 1941 - November 19, 2023. Christiansburg, VA - Sandra Sarver Ridinger, 82, died Sunday, November 19, 2023, in her home, peacefully in her sleep. This would not have been possible without the amazing care she received from her team of dedicated caregivers. Sandra was preceded in death by her husband Nelson Ridinger; parents James and Lucy Mae Sarver; step-daughters Linda (Jody) Smith and Anne (Joe) Maroon. Sandra is survived by her daughter, Leslie Mitchell; son, Jay (Brenda) Foster; step-daughter Jane Ridinger; sisters, Betsy Rittenhouse, Jenny Wise and Jane Collins; grandsons, Dustin Clifford, Adam Smith, Jordan Maroon, Greg Smith, Garrett Maroon, Ryan Mitchell; granddaughters, Alex Foster, Brooke Mitchell, Brittany Foster, Sarah Mitchell; and seven great-grandchildren. Sandra was beautiful in so many ways. She was both Homecoming Queen and May Queen at CHS high school. After attending Radford College she pursued her lifelong vocation of building strong relationships with family and friends. Her real beauty shined within. She loved the holidays, especially cooking big meals that brought her blended family together. She had an amazing memory and enjoyed sending cards to celebrate special occasions. She also had a love for God that was reflected in her commitment to the St. Paul community over the years, from teaching Sunday School to participating in Bible Study Fellowship. Sandra loved to have fun. From watching VT Football to playing doubles tennis to playing bridge and Pictionary, she loved to be on a team and celebrate (sometimes loudly) getting the lead. Sandra also enjoyed many great trips with Nelson over their 36 Years of marriage. She was known for her creative range of facial expressions and hand motions that could get even the grumpiest baby to break into a belly laugh. Parkinsons tried to slow Sandra down. It wasn't easy. Her self-determination over the past 20 years of fighting that disease was truly inspirational. Regardless of the struggles, Sandra remained positive and focused on celebrating family and friends. on November 26, 2023.2

Anne Nelson Ridinger Anne Ridinger Maroon, 68 years old, died on Tuesday, October 4, 2022, surrounded by her family after a nearly eight year battle with stage 4 breast cancer. For those eight years Anne lived a full and mostly normal life by the Lord’s kindness. The last two months brought a new and final battle as the cancer spread to the liver. Her deep faith in The Lord, sincere love for her husband and family and sacrificial heart kept her going and joyful even in the last moments. Anne’s life was painted with joy, kindness, grace, gentleness, faithfulness and above all, the sincerest picture of selflessness. Rarely seen without a smile on her face even through her cancer journey, Anne would rarely speak of herself and always wanted to know how you were doing. She constantly thought of how to serve others and freely gave of her time and energy - a true, one-of-a-kind woman loved by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Anne was born on June 4, 1954 in Roanoke, Virginia to William and Elizabeth Dale Ridinger. She was the youngest of 3 sisters – Linda and Jane. She lost her mother in 1971 and just a few months later was chosen as Homecoming Queen at her high school and was escorted by her new boyfriend, Joe Maroon. Anne and Joe both went to Virginia Tech for school and dated their entire college years. Anne and Joe both came to know The Lord within one day of each other and it was this faith that would shape the next 45 years of their lives together. Anne and Joe married on March 5, 1977. She taught French (along with Spanish occassionally) at Radford High School as Joe finished his master’s degree. They moved to Richmond, Virginia in 1978. From 1978 to 1982, Anne taught at Richmond Christian School; later at the Millwood School and 20 years at Westminster Academy. In total, she taught French for nearly 30 years and was beloved by her students. It was in Richmond that Anne and Joe started to attend Stony Point Presbyterian Church in 1986 where they have worshipped for over 35 years. At Stony Point, Anne was involved in many different ministries. She loved singing on the worship team with Joe or leading music at Vacation Bible School. One of her truly great joys in life was singing with Joe. Anne also became part of a woman’s group of special friends that has met faithfully for over 20 years. Anne and Joe raised two incredible sons, Jordan and Garrett. Possessing a true servant’s heart, Anne learned to love sports and would go to all the boys’ sporting events and would watch Cleveland Indian games with Joe and make her famous 7-layer dip. She faithfully cared for her family and loved gathering the whole family together. Anne shaped her family through her deep passion and heart for Jesus and lived an example of Christlikeness. Anne and Joe travelled many times to France together and on many different trips to baseball games. She loved to love what brought joy to others. When her sons married, she immediately welcomed Krystal and Rachel as her own true daughters and developed a special relationship with them. She was also blessed with 6 grandchildren whom she cherished. She spent many hours as “Nana”, serving, loving and playing with them and they loved her deeply. It is hard to capture such a life well-lived in such a short amount of space. Anne loved her Lord and Savior, Jesus, with a true, sincere zeal. Anne loved her husband, Joe, with all of herself. He was her favorite person in the entire world and it showed. She loved her boys and her daughters-in-law with grace and kindness and she loved her grandkids (Riley, Copeland, Haddie, Piper, Dylan and Ivy Lane) with service and smiles and lots of hugs. She also deeply loved her friends who are too numerous to count. In addition to her immediate family, she is survived by her sister Jane Ridinger, her step-mother Sandra Ridinger, step-siblings Jay Foster and Leslie Mitchell, brother-in-law Jody Smith, sister-in-law Emily Siebert and wonderful nephews and nieces. The family is deeply grateful for the outpouring of love, prayers, and support in many heart-felt forms from far too many people to name individually. Special thanks to her great friend Lisa White for her constant care for Anne and coordination of the loving efforts of many. We also want to thank the amazing staff of VCU Health, especially her incredible oncologist, Dr. Mary Helen Hackney, and the caregivers at Johnston Willis Hospital where she spent her final days in the care of her talented and caring surgeon, Dr. Christine M. Bouchard.3 She was born on June 4, 1954 at Roanoke, Virginia.2,3 As of March 5, 1977,her married name was Maroon.2 She married Joseph Harold "Joe" Maroon on March 5, 1977 at Montgomery Co., Virginia.1,2,3 Anne Nelson Ridinger died on October 4, 2022 at Virginia at age 68.3
