Jim was a 1974 graduate of Andrew Lewis High School and was a member of the runner-up state championship football team that was portrayed in the film, Remember the Titans. Jim graduated from Radford University in 1993 with a Bachelors of Business Administration degree, majoring in Information Systems. Most recently he owned and operated his own trucking company, Linebacker Logistics, and was an avid hunter and fisherman who loved the outdoors, in particular bow hunting. He was preceded in death by his father, James C. Penn; and his sister, Kathy. He is survived by his mother, Nola Penn; brother, Tom Penn, and his wife, Alison; and their three sons, Logan, Eli, and Collin; brother, Bob Penn and his daughter, Whitney Woolwine and her two boys, Jalen and Colt. on August 23, 2013.4
